Turmoil in the Arab world linked to an American-made video denigrating the Prophet Muhammad spread on Thursday to Yemen, where hundreds of protesters attacked the American Embassy, two days after assailants killed four Americans in Libya, including the ambassador, and crowds tried to overrun the embassy compound in Cairo.

Little is known about the origin of the video that provoked the protests, which is called “Innocence of Muslims.” It was made in obscurity somewhere in Southern California and promoted by a network of right-wing Christians with a history of animosity toward Muslims. When a 14-minute trailer of it was posted on YouTube in June, it was barely noticed.

But when the amateurish video was translated into Arabic and reposted twice on YouTube in the days before Sept. 11, and promoted by leaders of the Coptic diaspora in the United States, it drew nearly one million views and set off bloody demonstrations.

This is insane. I've seen the video on youtube... and yes it's insulting. Omg it's insulting,... but seriously? Christianity has taken more abuse than this, let alone all other religions.
So when some misguided fools who make something that takes the piss out of a religion, people of that religion can use that to justify civil unrest, violence and murder?
Tbh I've seen some of the riot videos.. looks like some of them are a bunch of fucking teenagers themselves using it as a means to vent. Just goes to show the sheer decay and acceptance by the more experienced and disciplined people.
These people need to learn their way is not the only way, and to respect that whenever you choose to live a particular way of life SOMEONE is going to disagree with you and take the piss. IF You use that someone elses ignorance/expression to BREAK your own morals and codes, you really have some issues with your own beliefes, which seriously contradicts the fuel that keeps this violence going.
Yeah.. I know it's a compounded issue with everything else coming wave after wave. Never makes this right. It was like that Danish cartoon. That was rediculous. A bit sensitive? Learn to say Fuck off and go on with real issues. Just pollutes true Muslims with this garbage.

The person that made the video is of Egyptian origin, but lives in CA. He is a Coptic Christian and owns a gas station according to the news.

Ask yourself what American intervention is doing in the middle east , with countries like Egypt Libiya and Syria .
Iraq and Afghanistan.
And you got your own answers western hypocricy and corruption , does not work on developing countries where they still are in darkages.
Sorry that is the cold hard truth , people always like to point fingers at other countries , but maybe they should worry about there own country first .

Too many examples last 10 years already shown how dire state the USA is , to even intervene with other countries , but they keep doing it .
When you have a religion that is darkages , you have to enforce the trias politica , something US will never understand .
Since they don't even understand there ordinaire citizens anymore , the gap between the top and the bottom has become every year bigger , that also counts for other western countries .
Politics is becoming a shamble , the ordinaire citizens just are totally confused , adding more confusing does not help .
Yeah see that wouldn't have happened in Egypt , if the military regime was still intact and the country still slowly ebbing to modern western country .

So reap what you plant , interference in other country politics , without understanding the situations only breeds more hatred .
