"The Pass" - RUSH
"Someone Saved My Life" - Elton John
I know a fair number of songs about this, but I apologise, I will refuse to post them, as I find it rather destructive for people to listen to these kinds of songs, as more often than not, if they do manage to cheer you up, there is also that equal chance they will send people running for their knives.
Even when I am alone I will go on, even though it hurts.
I am glad to be with everyone; I am glad to have been with everyone.

I know about a thousand. Mad Season had quite the collection of them. I was reading that a natural attraction to sad songs, when we're sad, actually has a soothing effect on the brain and let's us know we're not alone, that someone else has felt the same way and written a song about it. My favourite, precisely because of it's soothing effect, is "Asleep" by The Smiths.

My second favourite would be the strangely upbeat one by the Hollywood Undead. I forget what it's called but it's tempo is energizing and uplifting while it talks of the most suicidal things. It ends up being king of funny for that reason and thus cheering. One of the strangest suicidal songs you will ever hear, lol. Ahh, here it is. It's called "Bullet". The lyrics are excellent but very quickly sung, so I've posted the lyrics video.
