A Broken Heart

@seabird,
I appreciate you so much, you've been along on this journey from the beginning. Even before this thread, when I first received my prognosis, there were other posts, even another thread, where I wondered whether to pursue surgery, or accept a shortened life. Your listening and comments played a part in helping me to clear my thoughts and make the decision that ultimately brought me here, so thank you.
(((hugs)))

It's the beginning of August... How are you doing with rehab and everything? You are nearly at the end of this journey whish will help you continue into your next and other journeys.
Thanks for asking *hug

I have about 3 weeks left
It's going ok, I notice more energy and endurance, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep up the extra activity. Even if I joined a gym, or went to a park or walking trail, I'll lose my transportation in a few months, so I can see slipping back into a sedentary lifestyle when that happens.

peace

@1Lefty Could you mention your concerns about the future to one of your PT people, to see if they've got helpful suggestions? I'd imagine it's normal to slip back into old habits and lifestyles once the PT ends. Is there a reasonable fitness goal you might set your sights on?

Sorry to hear the of the upcoming vehicle issues.

Hi 1Lefty,

I do not know exactly how the weather is, where you live. But if its just transport - I bought a 125 ccm scooter, simple - for 100 per month, full insurance included. Who needs a car...? Would this help?

Courage.... and one day come to Spain.I will let you walk, trust me....:)*hug

Today, I completed my cardiac rehab, I attended all 36 of the sessions (12 weeks), and got an evaluation of where I was when I began, and how I've progressed to where I am now.

Some of the numbers were -
6 minute walk test, beginning = 1120/2.62 , ending 1736/3.52
Maximum MET level, beginning 2.23, ending 8.60 (I can't explain what it stands for, just that the higher number is better)
And it took less time for my heart rate and blood pressure to return to normal

Overall, I do feel better.
There is a follow up program available, and I'm interested in pursuing it
I think the key will be whether I can maintain my activity level, I'm afraid that otherwise I may lose whatever progress I've made

Less than a year ago, I wasn't even aware at how much my health had declined or what would happen since my diagnosis - surgery, recovery and now, rehab

The support I've gotten here has been really important, a vital part of my support system

🀣 did you see what I did there? πŸ˜„. I’ll try to limit my jokes to 1 per post.
πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ€˜- you did it. I love the measurements. You can quantifly your progress. Numbers are easy to compare. The numbers say: you did it, you are awesome! Super proud and happy for you.

you even got invited to more classes. Do you know what to expect? Dietary & lifestyle stuff?

I will look forward to your updates. Proud & happy for you!

That is outstanding! i know you can keep it up if you truly want to. The follow-up program sounds exactly like what you were wanting. It may help you continue the progress. You never know how far you can go unless you try. With the continued progress in the follow-up program, it may give you that extra boost and transition into not needing a program at all, being able to continue on your own. That being said... It's still amazing work and progress as it is! i am ecstatic for you!
