I recently started working with this guy at work and he is just a mellow go-getter. I envy his spirit and mind. I was talking with him the other day and he said a quote by Ghandi that I think will stay with me for quite some time.

"Be the change you want to see in the world"

I have been thinking about it ever since he told it to me and it's really opened my eyes. Whenever I think about doing something bad, I just think of the quote and realize that's not the kind of world I want to live in.

I don't know, just thought I would share that tidbit.

haha That quote would work if everyone lived by it....
but in reality there will always be more in this world that needs to be changed then there will be people doing the changing.

It's a happy little quote though.

That's the whole point of the quote. Instead of sitting around bitching about what other people are or are not doing, we're supposed to get off our asses and just do what we can to make the world a better place.

Yes I know.
But my point is that there will always be more people bitching and whining then trying to solve the problem.

The world changes slowly and it usually takes 20 - 100 years to see big change taking place. You can change your own little world but the bigger world wont change so easily or quickly.

Maybe, but if everyone thought that way nothing would ever change. I like the idea of taking responsibility for our little area of the world. I like to ask myself if I make the world a better place or a worse place. Do I make people happy or do I make their lives more difficult? If I can honestly say that I believe people are better off with me around, then I think I'm doing o.k.

I would be completely satisfied with myself if I were to only change a little part of the world. Small changes never hurt someone. Even if it's just holding the door open for someone or picking up that piece of paper lieing on the ground. Whatever. Change is a good thing.
