First time I heard it (today), it was deeply affecting for me. It's The Last Night by Skillet. I heard it on the "Rock" channel, Music Choice.

    The Last Night Lyrics

You come to me with your scars on your wrist
You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this
I just came to say goodbye
I didn't want you to see me cry, I'm fine
    But I know it's a lie

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be

Your parents say everything is your fault
But they don't know you like I know you
They don't know you at all
I'm so sick of when they say
    It's just a phase, you'll be o.k. you're fine
    But I know it's a lie

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be
The last night away from me

The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand
I will help you hold on
    Tonight, tonight

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be

I won't let you say goodbye
And I'll be your reason why
The last night away from me
    Away from me

Of course you have to hear the melody to really "feel" what he's saying. For me, it was moving, sad; sorrowful; kind of a lovesong, even:

"This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be"

It affected me, and I had to look it up to make out many of the words. I think it' pretty new.

    Anyone heard it?

Never heard it, but reading the lyrics alone made me cry... at one point in my life I had a person like that, but he's abandoned and left me here alone.

Well justgettinby, you are the SECOND person to say that my sharing has moved them to tears. The first was a moderator! lol

I REALLY appreciate the feedback. to the both of yas.

Weird thing is, it doesn't even make sense in parts.... I can't see the logic of "The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be"

Don't understand how that fits. lol

But it's.... you just have to hear the tune. Taken overall, it's an expression of the devastation that being alone or and feeling alone can wreak.

Yeah, loneliness can be a killer. The closest facsimile (of "personal contact") that I have right now is SF because you guys KNOW what I'm talking about.

Daaamn, New-Hope (and I love your name), so that makes 3 people I now made cry, sorta.

Kahlann, yes it is inherently painful to listen to. This is true and I am sorry to have caused any more hurt than you may already be braving.

I dont think it is supposed to be a person saying it. It seems to me that it is supposed to be a personification of death saying it.

For example, "I'll wrap you in my arms and i wont let go" seems to mean that the thought of death as someone commits suicide is that final comfort and when it happens death certainly wont let go. Also, "Im everything you need me to be" is also pretty much the ideals of someone commiting suicide about how death will solve all the problems in their life, so it is the ultimate problem solver or "everything you need it to be".

At least thats my take on it. If you put in context that death is supposed to be singing the song it makes it much much more sense and makes it much darker but i think that makes it better.
    Good song.

Nice song. And I heard it as there being two people having a conversation. The guy is the one saying he will hold her in his arms and never let her be alone again. It's the girl singing some of the parts that is struggling with suicide and depression.

Great song to give a friend to show that you will be there for them when they need someone, anyone.

Yeah but hell you're Crying All The Time.:hug:

It's fine, I'll take it: I've now aided 4 people in releasing pent up emotion, which can be therapeutic.

Please know I do not mean to make light of anyone, though.

Sigh. Ok so it's an enigmatic lyric. We have people guessing it's part personification of death doing the "singing," part boyfriend doing the singing, and part girlfriend doing the singing.

In a real way I hate these kinds of songs, where the message is just not clear. Someone's offering the comfort, but whom? The Last Night evokes tears and leaves you puzzled in the end.

OMG I heard again, exactly 14 days--only the second time ever.

I was walking past this gas-station that had music coming from it's speakers.

I was stopped cold in my tracks.

I didn't know what it was, but it grabbed me: "I know this from somewhere." And so I stood in a freezing wind looking up, listening intently to the song. Passersby probably thought I was seeing something strange in the sky. lol

Then it came, the lyrics. How wonderful, how sad, how powerful.

Music is what feelings sound like.

Even Nietzsche, a father of existentialism and driest skeptic I have ever read, said once that "without music.... life would be a mistake." lol

I think Skillet is a Christian band, so maybe it has something to do with Jesus wrapping you in His arms?

    Not sure...

Beautiful song though. It made me tear up.

Yeppers. And unfortuniately I have no high speed Internet, so no iPod, cannot purchase mp3's... LOL

It's making me muckin' futs over here. I'd have to listen to Music Choice like all day to catch it, else got out and buy a $16 CD.

    Errhg.

    Another moving song

Can I post one too, please?
its in japanese, I hope you don't mind.

若い死者からのレクイエム (Wakai Shisha Kara no Requiem, Requiem From a Young Death) by Ali Project

The top of the blue skin is oozing
I can see blood thats like a red meteor
    what will you remember?
I have your heart, im not ready to wound your eyes
    into even more profound pain
    the terror of illusions

    the generous anaethesia is rising
everybody is not already here on this night
    like a soft whisper
    your voice is wringing
    a tricking drop of blood
    from now, you sleep
into the inside of your darkness

    is it so
that you can see the way out of the light?
    from wanting to see it

    if the world is ugly
then will it not be the people's happiness?
at the bottom of the shadow
you suffer from agony and the unbearable loneliness
will exceed and you will come to know
    the transparent emotions

that sort of life is rising
    your hands are separating
    the exceeding scarcity but
    I have remembered
the figure of a smiling face
    from this, I will awaken
to the days of your tomorrow

    before you
    have died
as long as we have met
no matter how lonely you are
    surely, i will give pay
    to your warm hands
    from carrying
    onto such strong warmth

    the gentle anaesthesia is rising
everybody is not already here on this night
    like a soft whisper
    your voice is wringing
    a trickling drop of blood
    from now, you are asleep
to the inside of your darkness

the way out of the light
    and even I, will disappear
    from you passing away
