I am morbidly obese. 100 lbs+ overweight. It has started to impact my life severely. The latest being sleep apnea, incontinence and struggling to get out of my fricking chair.

So I gotta do something. I joined Weight Watchers. I did WW many years ago when it was all in person meetings and was successful at meeting some goals (I lost 40 lbs. then got stuck). I know this program will work for me if I just do it.

Its all online and app now, which is handy in many ways. So many tools at fingertips.

So this morning I made a frittata (egg pie in a muffin tin basically). It is delicious! Plus I have enough for 5 more meals or snacks. I suck at cooking so I celebrate this success.

I thought I'd keep this thread as a record of what I am doing, both success and not so success. Your comments are welcome.

I wish you the best Angie. And I totally relate. Am about 80 pounds over weight. My horrid diet has destroyed my body. So much doesn't work right. No energy, lots of pain, shortness of breath. But I keep eating crap. Its hard to change. I wish you the best of luck.

Well, I've realized how really badly I've been eating lately.

Just tracking foods (and drinks, wow the calories in drinks) has shown me what I've been doing wrong.

I've tried a couple new recipes. Swapped out regular mayo for lite mayo and traded regular white bread for a carb friendly tortilla. The tortilla makes a decent wrap instead of white bread.

Haven't lost anything, but I feel I've made progress in self awareness.

Way to go. I’m trying to lose weight too, and I’m gaining weight instead. I am trying to cook for myself more so that I don’t eat so much take out, which I think is what causes my weight gain. I also need to stop eating processed foods and instead have more produce.
Big changes usually don’t work for me, though. So I’m taking a step at a time.

I'm on a weight-loss journey myself and it has been tough going for the past few days. I also joined a gym and am doing strength training.

My biggest problem is snacking due to anxiety. Christmas coming up doesn't help as we are hosting.

I am using MyFitnessPal (free app) to track calories.

It seems like my body hates to lose weight. I get ravenous in the evenings when I am meeting my calorie goal. I try telling my body, don't worry, you have PLENTY of reserves! We are not going to starve!

I think my anxiety is rooted in never having enough food growing up. I was so thin people asked if I was anorexic (and I think more people would have asked if I hadn't worn baggy clothes).

First good for you @Angie...as it's amazing what we eat automatically without really realizing it... I too have been trying to loose some weight and get in shape...I think that for me...it's the glass or two of wine and crackers/cheese/nuts (my nemeses) before dinner that gets me...have to find a healthier alternative alas...have tried celery/carrots but not quite the same alas...a rabbit I am not...

So I had been taking Ozempic (semiglutide at the starter doses for a few months. It did bring down my A1c some but my weight was not affected.

On Thursday, Oct.12th I went up to 1 ml and the weight started melting off. I've lost 9 pounds in less than two weeks.

I'm not hungry at all. I estimate I am eating half the food I was. I haven't even made huge changes to diet although I did stop drinking all that sweet tea.

I know part of that loss was weight weight, but thats ok. I also know thats a bit fast for that many pounds. If this rate continues, I'll need to work on adding some more calories and do it on purpose.

So far semiglutide has no adverse side effects either.

Tagging @Pebble mouse cuz was asking about semigutide in another thread, but I didn't want to hijack.

Thought I'd update my journey.

I rejoined Weight Watchers in January 2024.

Didn't get serious until the end of January.

I've lost 11 lbs so far. My mobility is a bit better and thats really what made me so desperate to lose weight.

I have a long way to go on an ultimate goal weight, but for now I'm just aiming for 26 pounds (10% of body weight at start).

I really do recommend the Weight Watchers program. The app is easy to use and their system really works.

I've lost 17 pounds so far doing the Weight Watchers program.

My blood sugar is so much better now, I am looking forward to my next A1c test in June.

I really feel that, for the first time in my life, I could be successful at getting to and maintaining a healthy weight.

Its very exciting!
