Sorry if there is already a thread I may have missed. I have not been diagnosed with anything, mainly because I don't want to go to a Doctor. Is it worth going to the doctor and seeing what he could do to help me? I would like to try some Anti depressants, as I saw my sister change back to herself whens he started taking them.

I can get them without the prescription, but I wouldn't know what type to get.
Basically the point in this thread is I am asking you what you take to help your depression, and what pro's and con's and effects you feel when on them.

Do they calm your anger, do they make you feel happier? I just want some insight before I sit in the doctors office for an hour being quizzed on how fucke d up my life is, don't want to go through that for nothing.

Cheers for any replies.

i did reply to you in chat saying it depends on what you need them for. i would strongly suggest you NOT to get them without help from you doc. so much can go wrong you need help with this.

anti depressants arent for treating anger, so maybe you dont need anti depressant, you may need something else

no one here is medically trained (as nbest i know) and we cannot diagnose you or recomend whats good for you personally. anti depressants may not work for you you may need something else, and sadly the only way to find out is by going into how you feel and whats wrong. its not just about feeling down, there is so much more to mental health.

Thanks for the reply. I might give the doctor a shot. Just find it hard enough to open up to loved ones, I don't know how I will do it so a stranger.

I definitely suggest you go through the doctor to get on anti-depressants. They will be able to prescribe ones which they think are best for you.

Also you'll probably find that it will take a while for the anti-depressants to kick in but it also depends on how strong they are.

Anyways best of luck.

Nothing anyone else hasn't already said but I would like to reinforce (from experience)...Do not take any meds. without seeing a doctor first as some could make you feel worse if you do have a specific disorder.

And yes, there are many meds. that so many of us here have tried, that should you have something prescribed, you can get a lot of feedback.

See the doc. and let us know. Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, but so does heroin. I believe anti-depressants should be used to treat an illness, not just make you feel good.

Me too. Don't do drugs.

Go see someone. It's like going to job interviews, the more you see the easier it gets....but talking to a stranger is easy anyway.

As far as medication goes, different strokes for different folks.

You mentioned 'anger'. Remember, 'anger' is simply an expression of frustration. Frustration, when caused by someone else, is usually them violating your values in some way. So if someone makes you angry, ask yourself, "Which one of my values did they just cross". Gives a whole new perspective to things.

There are other ways of eliminating depression...just gotta find what works for you.
