Hi, I'm thinking of asking my doctor for medication to deal with Anxiety, I was wondering if anyone had any info on what the best medication is?
Is it constant or situational? If it's long-term, constant, and for a reason you can't pinpoint (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), they might try something that will work long-term. I'm on neurontin for it now and it's working pretty well. I'm also on a steady dose of klonopin because my anxiety/panic is pretty bad. That helps a lot, although is slightly sedating. If it is situational, and in the moment, they would probably give you xanax to calm down panic attacks and such. Or ativan. But you can look up all these online to find out what you think you might benefit from the most as well. http://rxlist.com
Hi Aaron. Whatever drug you wind up on, be a mindful consumer! Most anxiolytics, as all psychotropic drugs, carry heavy side effects with them. Weigh your options and know what you are taking! http://www.healthcentral.com/anxiety/find-drug.html Hope this helps.
The best medication for treating anxiety is definitely xanax without a doubt valium comes next,IMO. They are both highly addictive though.
I've been on several different anxiety meds, and none seem to help completely. The only thing they sort of did was help me have just a little more control over how I act during anxiety attacks.
