Disclaimer, this thread is for intellectual discussion only. I merely wish to open a different point of view. I myself am not a pedo, but I have dealt with much hate and therefore I do not give out hate indiscriminately and without a logical basis.

I want to start by saying that I am, in no way an advocate for harming children in any way shape or form, but when I hear a story about some guy that was hauled outta his house and exposed for the world to see; all because he downloaded child porn off of some website, and people are like "good! They should burn him to death for everyone to see!" I gotta take a step back and be like, "what..?" Like.. blind hatred much? For all these people know, the guy may have never touched a kid in his life.
And what about the guys that do only touch but not more than that, they deserve to "burn to death"? Where's all that hate when it comes to circumcision Drs? They do more perminant harm than touchy pedos. What, they're just doing their jobs? So were the soldiers in Nazi Germany, that don't make it right. And to further add contrast; a touchy pedo gropes a semi-defenceless child; a cirumcision Dr mutilates the genitals of a completely defenceless baby. Would it make it more right if the parents gave permission to the pedo?

In full disclosure, I was touched as a child. I didn't ask for it, didn't want it, but it didn't exactly destroy my innocence.. yes it made me a bit uncomfortable, but it wasn't like it shattered my life. I honestly can't believe the level of stupidity behind the blind hate. Society destroyed my innocence. Judgemental fucks destroyed my innocence, touchy pedo only made me uncomfortable for a few minutes.

But on the flip side, people that hurt or kill children to get their rocks off, can burn in a fire. I'm compassionate but I'm not an idiot. I just feel that there should be more thought put in when people talk about those people, I don't think they're all evil. They're all capable of evil, but aren't we all?

Hmm, well personally, i would say that people can be a bit too keen to dehumanise pedophiles due to what is, let's be real, a mental illness. Like i think if a pedophile acts on their desires, they absolutely deserve to be imprisoned, but i often hear folks describing wanting to do things to these people that wouldn't show up in some of my darkest fantasies, and i say that as someone who used to break people's noses for pushing me.

I don't think i would say that pedophiles who have never looked at any pornography or harmed a child themselves are evil, they're just unwell, and require understanding and support. That being said, if they have viewed pornography of children, that is supporting the child sex trafficking trade, and they are just as complicit in those children being harmed as the ones creating the material. That being said, i still don't think i would easily say they were "evil", just guilty of something foul that they deserve incarceration for.

This is often a point of contention for me anyway, since i feel like this knee-jerk reaction of automatic loathing and demonisation of pedophiles is actually an important factor in why child abuse happens. This is because i think that if we were to display a more accepting perspective of focusing on reformation rather than condemnation of these people, more of them would come forth and seek help, rather than hiding their condition until they feel unable to avoid acting upon it. I'm not saying it would resolve the problem entirely, and i fully support the disdain of those who have committed crimes on such bases, but i think a more accepting approach would actually make the children of the world that bit safer.

Basically, i see pedophiles the same as pyromaniacs or necrophiles. They all have pretty disturbing mental health disorders which compel them towards extremely dangerous and/or unsavory actions, but they're still human beings, and deserve the same chance at being a good person as anyone else. Just because they have said compulsions, doesn't mean that they have to act on them, or be an automatically lesser person for it.

Here at SF there are many people who have been harmed by abuse as children (or adults for that matter). Saying that "people who harm children can burn in a fire" while also saying that you think touching them is okay is contradictory at best.
I'm locking this thread to protect further possible contentious posts that are likely to arise. SF prides itself on protecting the majority of it's members (as opposed to the minority) so "freedom of speech" or opinion is given less weight than the value of those reading thread and feeling bad about it's content.
