Here do I sit, destination in mind
Not quite sure what I expect to find
Prepared to face uncertainty and fear
For I know in my heart that my heart is not here

Trapped by a life of emptiness and pain
If only I wasn't tied down by this chain!

Should I pull against my binds till I bleed?
Should I starve myself so the vultures may feed?
Though I sit here in this cage slowly dying
My captor pays no mind to my desperate crying

For no one can see your tears in the rain
I would walk away now if not for this chain

So here do I sit and feast my eyes on
A glimmer of hope shining on the horizon
Close my eyes and whisper a prayer
That some day I'll be free to travel there

But for now these dreams are envisioned in vain
For I am unable to cut through this fucking chain!!!

Thanks to both of you

I'm glad my poetry doesn't completely suck. Or maybe it does and you're just being nice, but either way, I thank you

I wasn't being nice, just honest. You did an excellent job painting a picture in my head with your words, and the feelings came through clear. I think you should keep writing.

    ((gentle hug))

    Well thank you

I've been writing, on and off, for close to 25 years now... I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. It's just a means of expressing myself... whether or not I have any talent is quite honestly irrelevant to me. I gave up on my dreams of being an author (or poet) many years ago. Now it's pretty much just a hobby.

You have a way with words, it's like you bring them to life. They're not just words, but feelings and emotions.
