Protective of anything entrusted to my care
I can still love my family and friends
And still be my own person
But a sense of responsibility toward them
Conflict with a desire to be true to myself
A genuine concern for other's welfare,
    Binding me with uncomfortable ropes.
Resist allowing insecurities to stop progress, but
It is hard to connect with my emotions
    Difficult to find quiet time
To sit down and listen to my inner voice
    Distractions all around
    Pulling me in many directions
I can see many things at once
But often can't focus on what's in front of me.
This independence is seeing me lonely
What has real value for the heart
And what is just a passing fancy?

You can still be true to yourself as well as being there for your family and friends, because you can always say "perhaps we can negotiate that honey?" when pressured to do more than you feel you can. What has real value for the heart lies deep within it, it will tell you as you assess the options, learning to listen to what it says you will gain discernment helping you to understand the intrinsic nature of concepts and things :)
