    My mate’s got this machine
that’s supposed to make things better
balancing the vibrations of body and brain
and I can’t quite make up my mind
if it’s sent back from the future
or dragging its heels from the past

    He has a truckload of
Testimonials and one of them reads
That relieved from Chester has all-but
got rid of her liver disease
    and agoraphobic from Leeds
has never felt quite so at ease

So I had a go. Try it and see,
    wondered what the diagnosis
might be. Laid back, lids down,
    Straps lashed around the wrist,
    you get the general gist

    My mate knocked himself out,
twiddled the knobs, fiddled with files,
    buttons, gorged on his laptop;
    a technological glutton
    Turned it up, resonance
    well off the chart

But, alas, the machine couldn’t reverse
    The scars on my heart.
