Butterflies And Birthdays. Among the starry skies one night, I sat and made a wish, While someone sang of Jupiter, And spoke your name upon her lips. She sang of June, and New Year’s, She sang of heaven’s lights And as I sat, and made a friend, I surrendered you my life. I held you for one moment, I held you for a year, But my heart holds you forever, And still wishes you were here. Your birthday’s now in heaven, And I can not send you gifts, I can not hold you close to me, And savour up each kiss. You gave the greatest gift that day, I held you in my hands, But like butterflies, these birthdays, Are no more part of my plans. So thank you, for your birthday, Thank you for each and every one, Thank you for the memories, Your loving, always, Mom.
