I walked blind and alone with my feelings,
stumbling over myself and my mind
    I didn’t see where I was going
    I didn’t care what I might find.

A world full of people is lonely,
a sea thronged with meaningless drone
no one is steady or ready
only together we move all alone.

You gave me your hand as a friend
drew me out and took me alongside
    and we traveled ideas together,
    companions for sharing the ride.

But you let go of my hand by the forest
and stood detached and apart like a tree
the woods were filled with dark shadows
yours was the coldest to me.

In a world full of people, I’m lonely
The lies and betrayal are too much
    I wander again disconnected
In the silence, I’m dead and untouched.

I have had the most incredible fortune in never having a friend turn their back to me in that manner, I cannot imagine the feeling of a "betrayal" or detachment at that level

    Great writing

My hand is there waiting to continue the jouney from where it was so coldy ended. Just peek out of the darkness hun, and you'll see it.

  5. That was a wonderful poem Acy...even as I can truly feel the desolation and despair. Yes, I've had people in my life like that too. And their actions and words can indeed be darker than the blackness we're enveloped by. But I've also (sincerely) felt that their inability - or even unwillingness - to understand was rather more a loss for them than myself - for they are the ones 'isolating', and one day when circumstances overwhelm them (and they will) - they may likely be ever more forlorn for having turned a blind eye towards someone else's suffering...
