Morning jim and all at sf. I had to google Black Friday lol it's not a very pleasant term really,on my results it said the term originated as follows:
JANUARY 1966 -- "Black Friday" is the name which the Philadelphia Police Department has given to the Friday following Thanksgiving Day. It is not a term of endearment to them. "Black Friday" officially opens the Christmas shopping season in center city, and it usually brings massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks as the downtown stores are mobbed from opening to closing.
That sounds a bit like boxing day here in the uk,the kind of day that I will not venture out from the house :-(

    good morning,

I was awoken earlier by my landlord calling me and knocking on my door. I was half asleep so didn't answer. They came in anyway. I guess in the process of a toilet replacement upstairs they ran into a snag and had to shut off the water. The only way to get to the water valve is through my apartment. Not pleased about that, but I understand. There would have been flooding if they hadn't.

I guess I'll have to shower at work this afternoon. Those showers creep me out.

Not a good start to the day, to be sure. :grr:

It isn't pleasant at all, Mark. There are horror stories of people being trampled, fights happening in Wal Mart, lines forming outside stores going into the parking lot at 3am. And what makes the "horror stories" is that they're all true. I tried venturing into it last year and decided that it wasn't for me. The "deals" really aren't worth the traffic jams, or the literally being shoved aside when you're trying to grab something, or the rudeness endured from customers who are trying to grab the last item on the shelf. It's horrible. Needless to say, I slept through it. Didn't get in last night until 1am. Dinner lasted longer than it should have. Got to sleep at about 4am after finishing an article. I've been free-lance writing. It will get the bills paid, at least. Today is a lazy day. I will probably have some pie and then proceed to sit on my bed all day.
