hmmm I have a dilemma

So I am a recruitment manager for a company that specialises in providing health care professionals, something I am really passionate about, making sure people get the right level of care and the best care on the available,

However a Hiring manager for a company that provides mental health advocates wants me to apply to them, I would love to be a advocate for people with mental health and help them find their voice and place in this fucked up world and allow them to live in a life without stigma etc,

BUT is the grass greener on the other side!!!!

what do i do???

Hi jayjay

Being an advocate is to promote a cause or policy according to the dictionary. Examine your emotions to see if you can handle a lot of controversy. I agree it is a much needed pursuit. One that requires a calm committed attitude in the face of disagreements. If you are not sure, keep the door open to do other things. Either way I know you will come out OK. I wish you the best of everything. Love.

First congratulations are in order for a company reaching out to you as that is a testament to you, your expertise and the respect you have gained in the field. But I can understand your dilemma. Maybe try to write down the pros and cons of each and then giving yourself a day to ruminate as they say. I wondered also if you knew anyone in the field that you could just informally talk to about the pros/cons as well.. Wishing you good luck with your decision

Yes, this. Make a list and weigh the good and bad.

And congrats!

I agree, it's a wonderful testament to your dedication that they've reached out and asked you to apply :)

Working in the mental health sector is going to be a tough ride. You need to make sure that your own mental health is strong enough and that you will be supported in your role to keep it that way.

There would be no harm in applying and finding out more about what the job would entail. You can always turn it down if you're offered it but don't feel it's right for you..
