Great lawyering on both sides of this case, but in the end, the jury saw every inch of evidence the state had against this woman, and they were simply not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt.

Thoughts on the case/verdict?

ORLANDO, Fla. July 5, 2011

Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee. The jury declined to convict her of either first degree murder or manslaughter.

The jury found Casey Anthony guilty on four counts of providing false information to law enforcement, which are misdemeanors. It's possible she could be released from prison later this week.

Clutching the hand of her defense attorney Jose Baez, Casey Anthony began to sob as the verdict was read. The rest of her defense team stood beside her, also clutching hands. She thanked Baez as she was swarmed by the defense team.

Her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, left the courtroom as Judge Belvin Perry read further instructions to the jury and did not approach their daughter.

Casey Anthony, who sat grim faced throughout the six weeks of testimony, beamed happily as she was fingerprinted in the courtroom for her misdemeanor convictions.

Sentencing on the guilty counts will be held on 9 a.m. Thursday. The maximum sentence applicable in this case is four years, but having already served two and a half years behind bars, Casey Anthony stands to serve one and a half years.

Cassey had a great defense attorney. The prosecutions case was weak imo. Also, the male prosecutor got in trouble for laughing during closing arguments and that made him look bad I think. If you notice, they had a woman prosecutor do the rebuttal instead of the man prosecutor. I think they knew they screwed up.

I'm glad in a way. I don't know if she is guilty but a lot of the so-called "evidence" really had MANY holes in it upon closer examination! You can't sentence someone to death with reasonable doubt. The media was already convicting her before the trial was over. They only wanted blood and I'm glad they didn't get it!

With that said, I think Cassey needs therapy. Her whole family even, but who am I to judge?

i have to say, tonight i was shocked at soe of the comments coming up from friends in the USA on facebook, people who didnt know the family or child, and only knew of the case what was shown in the media.

I have seen comments nothing short of viscious, nasty, and barbaric, all seeking veangeance and revenge, all asking for a variety of torture or retribution.

Despite a jury of 7 women and 5 men finding her innocent of murder, these people on facebook have cried out for her blood/ soul/ dignity.

What always pisses me off more though, and it has happened in the uk where a child dies from neglect is where the hell were these pious people when the child was alive? If this woman was such an evil mother, why did no neighbour, service or pastor intervene then?

At the end of the day its easy to light a torch and sharpen a pitchfor and bay for blood, however, these people are the guilty ones for ignoring the vulnerable in their communities.

Perhaps the venom in their posts was driven by their own feelings of guilt.

This woman is innocent in the eyes of the law, but there are people guilty of turning a blind eye to the disfunction in her home.

I think the key here is that the prosecution could not prove their case "beyond a reasonable doubt." That is a crucial point in the US justice system. It's not always followed but it seems in this case it was.

Oh I know. It is so disgusting and vile!!! The message of HOW you should feel is all over TV and in the tabloids and Jane Doe and John Sixpack EAT IT UP. In the "court of public opinion" she was guilty before the verdict came. I hate how hypocritical people can be. We talk about justice and values and it's all a LIE.

I think you are 100% SPOT ON! I only started paying attention to the trial when closing arguments came on and that writing was on the wall. I hope Cassey gets the help she needs! She has a long road ahead of her.

OMG! Your questioned would be answered if you only read the thread title. Just use Google. lol. Have you been living under a rock?
No I doubt he has, perhaps a different country  Ive not heard anything about this either

Caylee Marie Anthony (August 9, 2005 – c. June 16, 2008)[1] was a child from Orlando, Florida, whose disappearance in June 2008 attracted media attention throughout the United States. Caylee's skeletal remains were discovered December 11, 2008, five months after she was reported missing by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony.[2] Her mother, Casey Anthony, failed to report her daughter missing, and was indicted on charges of murder. She continued to maintain her innocence throughout her trial.

On July 5, 2011, Casey Anthony was found not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and aggravated child abuse. She was found guilty of four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor in the State of Florida.[3]
Apparently there was some dodgy shit with the case, but trying to find it specially just... really isn't worth my time :P

I love how the media convicted her before the court reached a decision, and then turned it around and said that it's a lawyer's job to "get you off". I'm serious they said this. It is so, so, soooo hypocritical!!! How can you claim to stand for justice and then want someone's blood without a shred of proof? If you need to distort truth to convict somebody, you are evil. The evidence should speak for itself.

I know my view is unpopular, but if Cassey had been convicted it would have only been because she was a liar and a slut. That doesn't make her a murderer. There is definitely something going on with her family. Why did the grandfather commit suicide? Was it out of guilt?

Chloroform? That was explain byed the defense. It was proven that the search was made after viewing a questionable picture on MYSPACE. The levels in the trunk were said to be high but an FBI agent said otherwise. The man who said the levels were high was trying to sell a "sniffer" machine.

There are so many weird things about this trial that I ask anyone who is rallying up people for a burning at the stakes to just use LOGIC and REASON.

It's sad Caylee is dead but how can we punish someone if we aren't sure they are guilty? Caylee didn't get justice because of sloppy police work and they're to arrogant to admit it. I'm glad their arrogance was defeated, but I'm sorry we'll never know the truth.

Im just wondering, did anyone in this thread who think shes guilty see every single scrap of evidence that the jury had? Unless you did no one has the right to say she was guilty. All people have seen is what is in the media, but of course they always tell the truth dont they.

Personally I think she's holding back the truth, regardless of whether or not she actually killed the child. There were way too many lies on the Anthonys' end for it to just be 'Oh, my daughter drowned in the pool but I got scared and panicked and made up a bunch of shit.' I don't know about you but I don't go looking up chloroform on the internet in my spare time.

If the defense hadn't been pressing for the death penalty and had gone for something smaller I think the verdict would have been different. She looked guilty as sin but you can't just sentence someone to death on circumstantial evidence. If the verdict had been guilty and she had been sent to death row you can believe there would be people crying out about the country's justice system killing people with no direct evidence to the crime. I don't agree with the verdict but if I were in a juror's shoes I probably would have made the same decision.

I also agree with the verdict. There was no evidence of a murder. There was no evidence of child abuse. Although, I was a bit surprised that there wasn't a finding of guilty on the child abuse charges, because that seems to indicate that the jury wasn't convinced that chloroform poisoning was a scenario proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

I thought that accidental poisoning was totally believable, although it wasn't proven to have ever occurred. I don't know how it could have been proven since the body was so decomposed that there was no way to determine cause of death. So even though I was surprised, I could understand why, and still wholly agree with the verdict.

This is what happens when there is no known cause of death and room for lots of doubt to set in.

Casey is released from jail next Sunday to a secret location; she will not be going back to live with her parents. I predict millions of dollars to be made by many people involved in the trial, a Lifetime movie, a broadcast television movie, at least one book by at least one of the attorneys involved and probably one by Cindy Anthony, at least one paid Dateline interview with Diane Sawyer. She's already been offered money to do porn, but even they withdrew that offer because her image is so tarnished and defamed that even the porn industry doesn't think she would sell there.

She's also being sued for defamation by Zenaida Gonzalez. So, looonnnng troubled road ahead for Casey, but big dollars will be made from the celebrity created by this trial.

the coroner said that the child's death was homicide by undetermined means. if casey was the last person to see her daughter alive then DUH! she made up a fictional person and lied for 31 days until her mother panicked and called the police. plus there was EVIDENCE of decomposition in the trunk of the car CASEY was driving. what mother goes out and parties while her child is missing? bitch is guilty as sin but you can go ahead make up all the excuses you want but she's fucking guilty. she makes up all these people who don't exist and then steals a name from some lady.
