chronic pain/chronic physical or mental health and suicide

#21
Oh...that's terrible. I feel for you. Isn't glaucoma treatable? So then at least you will have vision in right eye.
Yes I treat it with 5 eye drops a day....2 am and 3 pm....it's a total commitment...it rules my life now....if I'm out or away I have to take them with me and keep them sterile....I also have to sleep sitting up as lying down increases pressure in the eye which causes more damage.....it's a bastard...

Have you explored surgery or laser procedure? I just read glaucoma is not curable. That's a shame. It can only be slowed down or prevent further damage. It's tough to sleep sitting up. Have you tried accupuncture? Some say it works. I have not tried it though.

Lately as my joint problems never seem to end i have been unable to train and my fitness and self esteem has nose dived . I'm drinking more and taking pills to numb my brain from thinking of suicide and just relax . Mentally I'm losing it the more I'm unable to do the things that gave my life meaning and joy.
i do understand how you feel. i can't do much of anything anymore. there was a time i did almost all the work on antique cars and was very active. my pain and especially copd means my son does most of the work. it's hard but i try to concemtrate on what i do have. it doesn't always work and i'll always have suicidal feelings off and on. but we have to keep trying, changing what we feel is normal. if we compare ourself to what we were we lose every day so we have to re-evaluate our new normal once in a while. i hope you an feel a little better soon.

Medication...I have to take eye drops for life now.....5 times a day..they are supposed to keep remaining vision...I had an eye stroke which is a debilitating and eye damaging problem...there is no operation for it...it also brings bad headaches...I also have to have a strict diet....no fast foods or alcohol...I'm just existing now not living !
i can't imagine facing the loss of vision. i have a seperated retina in one eye which causes blurred vision. but it usually cures itself and hasn't so far, and i'll admit scares me. you mentioned driving was one of your hobbies can you share more. i have a 64 dodge which i occasionally street race. was it just driving for fun? sometimes when we suffer medical problems we have to re-adjust our life patterns. i have serious pain and health issues which cause menta health issues but i find a way to have joy sometimes. a little joy can help us through these hard times.
