Does anyone have any methods of dealing with chronic pain. If so, please share.
ppffttt @SillyOldBear I'd say the top ones for me in no particular order are sleep, THC or CBD, narcotics if you've got them, distraction when you can do it.
Others would say mindfulness, meditation, relaxation, imagery. I don't know what else. I'm sure the Googles would have something to say.
And make sure you're moving around. Being still and getting stiff are really unhelpful. Catch-22. You've got to move but it hurts to move.
I'm suffering with two autoimmune diseases and I have severe chronic pain. I want to rip the parts that hurt right on off. I've had this issue for 5 years. I've been on at least 30 meds in a yr span. All made me sick which sucked. Idk what else to do but I can't take it anymore
Chronic pain sucks so very very bad. If you have access to a pain management clinic, nerve blocks worked for me. until my doctor got arrested for defrauding the gov.
non-narcotic as far as i know. I went every 2 weeks, or every month depending how bad i was. could use that again myself. they inject an anaesthetic near your nerves as far as I remember. and i got relief almost until the next appointment some times
should have mentioned that Medical marijuana is great too, or non medical, I'm not picky....
Now that was funny, @Jeff M
well, with the medical I'm "allowed" 2 grams a day, which is both not enough sometimes and costs roughly $20 a day so I run out...
I should add, if you can't afford if, and have a drug plan theres a number of cbd based medications(actual pills) that work super well for both pain and anxiety as well as some other things of that nature. Nabilone was the one I was on, and when I had a drug plan, it did more for the pain than any opiate based meds I have ever been on, in fact they cure the side effects caused by opiates like nausea etc.
Yeah, I'm in Colorado so we're all up on all that jazz. I haven't done as much of the CBD as I'd like cause that shit it so expensive. It's just too dang pricey. Who can afford all that?! I can't even afford a haircut right now. christ. I'm still getting street green cause it's cheaper but it's all hybrids out there, which is kind of lame. When I'm feeling really out of the box & super rich we spring for the dispensary but that's only every few months.
Chronic pain is perhaps the most difficult thing to deal with. It wears you down, but between the pain and exhaustion, you have people who believe that because they cannot see your disability, you suddenly don't have anything wrong.
Chronic pain sucks
When they took away my oral morphine, I just ended up drinking to numb some of it. Morphine is way easier on the body, but nobody will prescribe me, so I muddle through being barely functional at times. Pain is related to past surgeries for cancer, some done poorly by a general surgeon, as HMO wouldn't pay for a specialist. If I go from one good day a week to no good days, I'm gonna quit. Nine years of spending way too much time wincing. And another related surgery 2.5 years ago made things even worse. Wish I would have done nothing and died, more often than not, these days.
Hell, marijuana is so expensive because the government taxes the hell out of it. I am in Washington State. It is legal here but costs a fortune. My doctor's will not prescribe it so it is all on me. Can only use edibles because of asthma and they don't seem to be very effective.
Texas here. They are hard on anything that works and there are very few pain mgmt doctors, because of the legal liabilities.
That's interesting. Edibles are usually pretty effective for pain control. They take longer to kick in than smoking but it lasts longer. Have you tried any other routes of administration like the oils or lotions? The people at the dispensaries here are pretty well versed in everything related, do you find it to be the same way there in WA? Maybe they could point you towards something catered to what you want/need.
Same here in CO. Like my (regular PCP) Dr will give me 120 vicodin a month because that's the largest amount she can give out before her license is "flagged" for giving out too much. And she can only give a certain percentage of patients narcotics or she gets flagged as well.
Some people dream of exploring the stars. I dream of a prescrip for fentanyl patches...
I'm here with you. I have been suffering with severe chronic pain for almost 6 years now. I'm a medical mystery. Mybstmach recently stopped working sob was diagnosed with gastroparesis. I'm in pain and physically sick all day everyday. From the time I sleep to the time I waken up just sick and in pain all the time. I had a mental breakdown last night. I just can't handle this anymore
Good luck with getting that stuff. Highly addictive and there is already a bad epidemic with those patches. Butrans patches are a bit safer but still addicting
Been dealing with migraines and been trying different medications I cant take it anymore so far for IL marijuana is not legal yet
It looks like medically it is legal in IL
