    Dark Recollections

the shortening days darken my mood,
    withdrawing silently, enforced to brood,
For sunlight afresh, I do openly yearn,
longing to hibernate 'til temperate days return,
until such time, I shall remain subdued.

i walk the corridors of this tortured mind,
looking for solutions i doubt i can find,
each door a portal to introspection,
each room alive with rampant infection,
    of thoughts much maligned.

the gentle ripple of encroaching insanity,
segregated from the rest of humanity,
    alone, wrecked by time, despair,
    thoughts I endeavoured to foreswear,
submerged in a plethora of abnormality.

    you are nothing,
    i am nothing,
    the world is nothing,
    there is.....
    nothing!

There is much in this that I can relate to from a bygone time. Just a thought. Would tormented be a better description than tortured. It would seem most people are actually tormented by the thought of torture they face...

I think that is a very valid point. Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated because it is constructive.

Is your work autobiographical? I ask, because mine is and I recognise a depth of knowledge in your writing that is only found in personal experience.

For the most part yes it is. I did belong to a poetry group at one point, but grew away from it. I write in fits and starts and have quite a large back catalogue to pick from if I do feel like posting anything.

Do most of your poems reflect the path you have travelled through your allocation of time and the degree of your understanding, or questioning, at specific moments and places in time?

I would say so under most circumstances, but obviously, there are exceptions. The poetry group would give us projects and new styles to attempt and often personal experiences were not enough to fullfil the criteria, so more imagination was required, which forces one to think outside of the box on a few occasions.
