  1. Oh that dark road
where even the blackest shadows can't wander
    and the mosquitos can't sting
why do you beckon me again?
like a slave obeys their master
i will stroll along your path once again

even the light of my past
    can't brighten me now
    and what of the future?
it's rays of hope are only smoke now
    smoke along this gloomy road

i see footprints all around me
where the bands once marched proudly
all that remains are their empty footprints
my memories struggle to smile through
but in the dark you can't tell a smile from a frown

i hear the call of freedom
at last the sun shines through
and lets me roam the light
    and fondle hope
but only until you beckon me again

I like this poem. The way that you worded it was good. It also has emotion and it is deep. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I hope to see more of your poems. Take care and I love you. :cheekkiss  :cheekkiss  :cheekkiss  :cheekkiss
