These words came to me one morning after my first suicide attempt.

    Death surrounds me,
Wrapping his arms about my waist,
A little squeeze to remind me,
    Death can wait.

    Death surrounds me,
    His hand upon my back,
His cold breath touches my ear,
    Death can not wait.

    Death surrounds me,
He strokes my cheek and breast,
    His fingers invade me,
    Death will not rest.

    Death surrounds me,
    I feel his stabbing cold,
    Death lies within me,
Now I am His to hold.

    Softly, softly,
    Breathe in deep,
    Say 'Goodnight'
    And go to sleep
