Diesels and Suicide

I have just had to phone the police to stop my neighbour gassing himself... the paramedic turned up and said that its not possible to successfully gas yourself in a diesel vehicle.

Does anyone know why?

I think modern day diesel engines produce very little carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide even, but there's enough other crap they produce that I can't imagine it wouldn't give you a whole bunch of other problems if you concentrated the fumes.

Beyond that, dunno, and since this is probably also skating awful close to a methods post I'm not sure what else I can say.
