    I am the drunken poet
And here's my poem, though I may blow it
I stumble over these words like hurdles
Mind slower than a pack of turtles
    Reminiscing about happier times
As I drink a shot and slur these rhymes
I must admit, it's quite surreal
To talk about feelings I'm too numb to feel
When I was a child, whodathunk
I'd grow up to be the local drunk
Sure, the others mock and shame me
But if they knew, no one could blame me
    My suffering was too intense
I'm sorry if I'm not making sense
I know I had so much potential
My life's shitstorm was so torrential
I tried to hang on and hope and pray
But I lost myself along the way

I hope you liked my poem of sorrow
Because I won't remember it by tomorrow

This is a sweet and touching poem...and I know that things will be better for you someday. At least you can write when you're drunk...I can't even get up off the bed.:applouse:

Love it, the ryhme pattern worked really well. The last 2 lines were simply awesome, they closed it out so well.

Thanks guys... I have to confess, I came up with most of the lines when I was sober (the poem is a lie! the poem is a lie! lol)... though a lot of my writing here has been done while drunk.
