Please feel free to copy and paste this wherever you feel it can do the most good. Lets tackle hysteria together.

Hi there I am here to inject a dose of anti hysteria. Against the true disease, Fox news level journalism and scaremongering bereft of facts. Instead of using dry science, I instead have a satirical checklist you can take yourself through. Links to actual science and learned professionals can be found at the end. But if you are the sort that does not trust science or professionals in their field. Then may I recommend my lemon and nutmeg suppositories, that I have lovingly channelled dead alien ghosts and quantum theory into as a preventative against Ebola. Yours, all for the low price of a grand in Bitcoins, renewed monthly. You can't put a price on health now can you?

Question 1. Is it common practice for you to throw your faeces out the window or into the nearest river?

If the answer to that is no, congratulations you likely live in a location that has decent sanitation. So not Liberia then. Considering that virulent aspects of Ebola are found in faeces this is a good indicator you are likely safe. Unless for some reason you like handling strangers poop? In which case you maybe have more severe problems than Ebola.

Question 2. Do you live in a country where healthcare is near enough non existent and beseeching witchdoctors is considered traditional medicine?

If the answer is no, congratulations you are the truly blessed. Likely having access to doctors and nurses educated in precautionary measures and protocols. With up to date isolation wards, and an abundance of boxes of gloves, masks and gowns, unlike say hospitals in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Question 3. Are you a nurse that works regularly with blood faeces and vomit? That has come from affected areas?

No? Then your chance of exposure is very low unless you like spending time in hospitals playing with infected patients fluids. You see it is the blood, faeces, and vomit that contain the infectious elements, your average person is not exposed all that often to such fluids. The reason that some of the doctors and nurses have been exposed is because...

Well have you ever had to clean up liquid diarrhoea on a regular basis, or been splashed by vomit when they miss the sick bowl? Or groped at fitfully by a dying patient as they haemorrhage blood all over you? Now imagine they do that day after day. Risk increases with continued exposure. Precautionary measures are just that, precautionary. Just because a nurse wears a hazmat suit does not mean you need one. Besides you are likely not trained in its proper use any way. Do you have a ready supply of chlorine by any chance?

However for your average Joe. By time it is infectious the person in question will be suffering rather visibly, with high fever, and muscle weakness, they will unlikely to be going to the gym, or teaching children how to read. They will likely be vomiting in their own toilet and seeking medical assistance. If you see a pool of sick or blood in the back of a taxi are you prone to interact with it? When you are horribly sick do you have a tendency to go out into the world and vomit on strangers?
That is a rhetorical question by the way. Once a case comes to light decontamination procedures are taken and sources of risk located and cleaned.

Question 4. Do you live in a country where body disposal consists of dumping them in the street to be eaten by scavenging animals. Or keeping them in your house surrounded by family, right up until the moment you bury them your self, with your own shovel and two hands in the sun baked dirt?

If the answer is no, congratulations you live in a country where bodies are not left to moulder and rot unattended. Which is a good thing as far as Ebola is concerned as it lives on in corpses for a time. But with the ever present threat of health and safety laws that take a dim view of people holding onto corpses, you can rest easy knowing your neighbours cat is not going to lap at infected blood from a persons dead relative, then lick your children's faces.

Question 5. Do you have a bar soap and access to clean water?

You do! Wonderful then I bow down to you, oh grand gods of cleanliness. Unlike the impoverished areas where the disease is spreading. You are afforded the luxury of clean water and and soap in variety of fragrances and PH levels to suit. I would hope you would know how to use them. As simple soap and water kills Ebola.

Question 6. Do you trust Scientists, Doctors and Nurses with your health who have trained for years to be effective in their field. Or politicians, celebrities and journalists that have never cracked open a medical text book?

If you have more faith in science than sensationalist spin I have just the links for you.

A factual explanation on the contagious nature of Ebola.

Question 1. Is it common practice for you to throw your faeces out the window or into the nearest river? Just to put this out there, there is no record of Ebola being able to swim. Should contaminated feces be thrown into a river, it is unlikely that you will contract the virus through drinking the water. Unless you happen to come across feces in the water and actively rub that stool on your open wounds, its unlikely that it will happen. You should probably refrain from eating said infected, water floater as that will imminently get you sick. The methods of transmission for ebola do require direct contact with the virus for transmission, either through any number of body fluids and contaminated countertops. It is highly recommended that anything you may find outside, feces wise, be handled with care as ANY mammal could potentially be infections. But I would hope that handling items of these sort would be done with protections in place. The key is sanitation. If you feel that you are truly at risk, after you touch anything, wash your hands. The number one prevention of the spread of disease.

Question 2. Do you live in a country where healthcare is near enough non existent and beseeching witchdoctors is considered traditional medicine? Just as you are aware, those not living in a 3rd world environment have access to some of the greatest healthcare. This biggest thing that is killing the populations is the fact that access to good water, medicines, and sanitary practices is limited. Inability to contain is the biggest cause of any epidemic and is usually limited to those areas without proper personal protective equipment. This is why you have epidemics of HIV, Malaria, dysentery… and the list goes on. Strangely enough, even in places of limited means, the Ebola virus is at the bottom of the list of killers. More people will die from HIV and malaria than Ebola will touch.

Question 3. Are you a nurse that works regularly with blood faeces and vomit? That has come from affected areas? Now this is a very big question on everyone’s mind considering here in the US we have people breaking guidelines and flying. If you are one of those feverish morons that chooses to fly, wear a mask. Ebola isn’t airborne, but if you sneeze in someones face, you risk the spread via spit to the eye. If you sneeze on the surface of something, its going to need decontamination. For those flying that are healthy, you know that hundreds of people move through planes each day and here is what you can do to protect yourself. Hand sanitizer, adequate handwashing and showering. Good personal hygiene is going to save your life. So quit touching stuff and rubbing your eyes, or sucking your thumb. You can protect yourself against this disease with a few simple hygienic splendors.

Question 4. Do you live in a country where body disposal consists of dumping them in the street to be eaten by scavenging animals. Or keeping them in your house surrounded by family, right up until the moment you bury them your self, with your own shovel and two hands in the sun baked dirt? I don’t think I really need to say anything on this one as you know that anyone that dies ends up in a morgue or funeral home. Chances are if the person died from ebola they would opt for cremation to kill the virus. In the even that an autopsy is performed, most medical staff are wise enough to take proper precautions.

Question 6. Do you trust Scientists, Doctors and Nurses with your health who have trained for years to be effective in their field. Or politicians, celebrities and journalists that have never cracked open a medical text book? Truth be told, I know that this is a new virus and not one very well know in other countries. The CDC however has done massive research and many of the precautions in place come down from the CDC a guildelines to protect the population. I do also understand that some nurses/doctors aren’t going to be as careful and yes the disease will spread some. We are not going to have an epidemic because as it stands, it’s a new thing so there are going to be errors made. As it stands there are few cases and the chance for a full blown epidemic in the future is small. Why? Because we have containment guidelines. It will get to the point where people are contained if they are at risk of having the Ebola infection. You can be arrested for trying to fly with possible active TB. It wont be long before you have to be fever free to fly.

    What are body fluids?
Ebola has been detected in blood and many body fluids. Body fluids include saliva, mucus, vomit, feces, sweat, tears, breast milk, urine, and semen.

Can Ebola spread by coughing? By sneezing?
Unlike respiratory illnesses like measles or chickenpox, which can be transmitted by virus particles that remain suspended in the air after an infected person coughs or sneezes, Ebola is transmitted by direct contact with body fluids of a person who has symptoms of Ebola disease. Although coughing and sneezing are not common symptoms of Ebola, if a symptomatic patient with Ebola coughs or sneezes on someone, and saliva or mucus come into contact with that person’s eyes, nose or mouth, these fluids may transmit the disease.

    What does “direct contact” mean?
Direct contact means that body fluids (blood, saliva, mucus, vomit, urine, or feces) from an infected person (alive or dead) have touched someone’s eyes, nose, or mouth or an open cut, wound, or abrasion.

How long does Ebola live outside the body?
Ebola is killed with hospital-grade disinfectants (such as household bleach). Ebola on dried on surfaces such as doorknobs and countertops can survive for several hours; however, virus in body fluids (such as blood) can survive up to several days at room temperature.

Are patients who recover from Ebola immune for life? Can they get it again - the same or a different strain?
Recovery from Ebola depends on good supportive clinical care and a patient’s immune response. Available evidence shows that people who recover from Ebola infection develop antibodies that last for at least 10 years, possibly longer.

We don’t know if people who recover are immune for life or if they can become infected with a different species of Ebola.

If someone survives Ebola, can he or she still spread the virus?
Once someone recovers from Ebola, they can no longer spread the virus. However, Ebola virus has been found in semen for up to 3 months. People who recover from Ebola are advised to abstain from sex or use condoms for 3 months.

Can Ebola be spread through mosquitos?
There is no evidence that mosquitos or other insects can transmit Ebola virus. Only mammals (for example, humans, bats, monkeys and apes) have shown the ability to spread and become infected with Ebola virus.
    http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/transmission/qas.html

There is no FDA-approved vaccine available for Ebola.

If you travel to or are in an area affected by an Ebola outbreak, make sure to do the following:

Practice careful hygiene. For example, wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and avoid contact with blood and body fluids.
Do not handle items that may have come in contact with an infected person’s blood or body fluids (such as clothes, bedding, needles, and medical equipment).
Avoid funeral or burial rituals that require handling the body of someone who has died from Ebola.
Avoid contact with bats and nonhuman primates or blood, fluids, and raw meat prepared from these animals.
Avoid hospitals in West Africa where Ebola patients are being treated. The U.S. embassy or consulate is often able to provide advice on facilities.
After you return, monitor your health for 21 days and seek medical care immediately if you develop symptoms of Ebola.
Healthcare workers who may be exposed to people with Ebola should follow these steps:

Wear protective clothing, including masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection.
Practice proper infection control and sterilization measures. For more information, see “Infection Control for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers in the African Health Care Setting”.
Isolate patients with Ebola from other patients.
Avoid direct contact with the bodies of people who have died from Ebola.
Notify health officials if you have had direct contact with the blood or body fluids, such as but not limited to, feces, saliva, urine, vomit, and semen of a person who is sick with Ebola. The virus can enter the body through broken skin or unprotected mucous membranes in, for example, the eyes, nose, or mouth

    The Ebola Outbreak

What do you make of the scaremongering that by now surrounds the latest world health threat that by now is increasing the amount of negativity and fear that already existed in our world many times over? Are you, like me, getting an ever stronger feeling of déjà-vu when you follow the news about the unfolding of this sad and painful episode in the development of our world? Has the thought occurred to you, as it frequently does to me, that all of this could be a re-run of the Bird flu and the Swine flu epidemics in the years 2003 and 2009 respectively?

After the two above mentioned attempts failed, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the pharmaceutical industry in the foreseeable future broke the news to an astonished and grateful world that they have developed some kind of a ‘wonder drug’. What would you say if three billion shots of vaccine magically appeared and were immediately made available to the governments of the Western world at – let’s say – Fifty Pounds/Dollars/Euros a shot? And what if, several months after the epidemic had died down again, as surely it will, someone came forth to reveal that the vaccine was as useless as the ones against the Bird and Swine Flu in the end turned out to be?

For all those who are seriously interested in the Ebola outbreak – and who wouldn’t be that by now? – I strongly recommend the reading of the whole of two related parts of ‘Our World In Transition’. As both of them consist of several chapters, you can start reading one after the other by clicking on the links below. Please allow one or two seconds for the files to load.

    * * *

Already voices of doubt about the current Ebola outbreak are coming to the fore. In particular I would like to draw your attention to the following one:

After reading the evidence that is now before you, I leave you to draw your own conclusions about why the Bird flu and the Swine flu scare did not succeed, so you can decide for yourself whether in your view something similar is likely to apply to the Ebola outbreak. The first two attempts failed, as in the end people had become too well informed, so that they could no longer be taken in by the machinations of those pulling the strings behind the scenes. The source of their information were those who genuinely had their best at heart and to whom this did not mean their money, but their mental and spiritual wellbeing. This alone can bring the peace of mind that is the foundation of any true and lasting physical wellbeing and happiness.

I trust that what is before you now will help you to make up your own mind whether you wish to buy into the panic-making that so obviously is being carefully built up, step by step – just the same as the two previous times, though even more cautiously. When we refuse to react in the manner the pharmaceutical giants hope us to do, we empower ourselves. So, let us show our faith in God and the Angels by asking them to give us the strength and courage not to succumb and join the ever stronger negative thinking that is building up about the Ebola outbreak. Let us ask them to show us ways of counteracting all this negativity with positive and loving thoughts of trust and hope.

And now, I would like to share with you the essence of a teaching from the White Eagle group of guides ‘Seeking Serenity’, which reached me when I was in the middle of writing this article. ‘Do not allow yourselves to dwell in darkness and fear or disharmony. Do not dwell unnecessarily on the present physical conditions or problems of the Earth. And do not allow negative thinking patterns to limit you or your life, so that the life-force may flow into you and fill your whole being ever more strongly. Negative thoughts limit its power, whereas its flow increases and is strengthened by attuning your thoughts and your whole being ever more to the frequency of the Highest Star and the Brightest Light in the whole of Creation, the Christ Star. Thought is a living thing and its effectiveness can be increased through prayers, meditations and quiet reflections that show your trust and faith in the wisdom and love of your Creator.’

The Christ Star is the white light at the top of the spiritual mountain. It consists of all the colours of the rainbow and each one of them represents one of the healing rays. The Christ light is the focused and concentrated of all of them together. This is the most powerful force in the whole of Creation. Through it every aspect of life is given, nurtured, sustained and healed, whenever the need for it arises. All of us are in this life to learn how to attune ourselves to this energy, so It can use us as channels for the blessing and healing of our whole world.

An essential part of the duality of our existence are two streams of thought or consciousness. They manifest themselves in yin and yang, female and male, darkness and light, black and white – with all shades of grey between them –, positive and negative. At any given moment each one of us has the freedom to choose which thought stream we wish to join. Either the negative thoughts of scaremongering and panic-making or the positive ones of declaring our trust in our Creator’s wisdom and love, the goodness of the life we have been given and of His/Her great plan of life.

Unconsciously we have always belonged to one of the streams or the other. But the deeper we are entering into the Age of Aquarius, the more the need will arise for us to increasingly make conscious choices that empower us and help us to take charge of our lives and destiny. Up into the Heavens, that which is good and right, or down into hell, the things that are evil and wrong – the choice is entirely ours. We have the right as well as the duty to choose and never forget that not making a decision is also a choice.

As far as the pharmaceutical industry is concerned, is going to be third time lucky for them, and that at the expense of the suffering of large parts of our world? Let’s join hearts and hands with the Angels in prayer and form a ring of love and protection around Mother Earth and all her children, and do our share of making sure that this cannot come to pass. ‘More power to the people,’ I say and hope that you will join the ranks of those who refuse to be taken in. If so, please share this message with as many as possible. But as always, first listen to your inner guidance and see whether it confirms the truth of what mine is saying to you, through me.

    A Beam of Starlight

A message from the Christ Star,
the Highest Star and the Brightest Light
    in the whole of Creation

For the spread of the Ebola virus and the resulting fear and anxiety across our world. With the help and the will of God and the Christ Star all things are possible, so let us join hearts and hands in prayer under the Star and:

    • Project Its light into those who are suffering and also for all relief workers.
    • Together we hold the people of West Africa into the light of the Star.
    • We pray that the light of God’s wisdom and truth may illuminate every heart and soul, especially those of the scaremongers and panic-makers of our world, so that the Divine spark in them comes alive and they too reawaken into the knowledge of God’s true nature and their own and the responsibilities for ourselves, each other and our whole world this brings with it.

The White Eagle group of guides tells us: ‘We see the Christ Star’s light shining beyond the clouds and we bring you our message of hope. Peace be with you. All is well and all will be well. Have no fear and rest quietly. Put your trust into the Highest and go forwards with courage.’

    Let us affirm:

I believe in the power of God’s light.
I trust that God’s plan for all life is perfect
And I believe in the power of the Christ Star to bless and heal,
wherever it is needed in our world.

Quietly repeat to yourself whenever a negative thought enters your mind:

I see the light of the Christ Star shining across our whole world,
deeply penetrating and healing all life.
I have no fear because I trust in God.

Tuning the receiver/transmitter stations of our minds into the wavelength of the Christ Star focuses our thoughts. This helps our minds to remain steady, calm and balanced, our hearts and souls to reflect the light of the Heavens and no longer the darkness of the Earth and the Christ Spirit fills our whole being ever more with Its positivity and light.

Knowing that under the Christ Star all life is one, with hope, faith and trust in our hearts, we move ever forwards and upwards. We do our best and rest safely in the knowledge that God and the Angels are doing the rest.

    Peace Prayer

I wish you warmth, in a world that has grown cold.
I wish you joy, for all your days,
To soothe your own sorrows and those of others.
I wish you wonder and a growing awareness that
The Glory and the love of our Creator is present and
Manifests itself in every being, place and thing.

I wish you a sense of humour and the gift of smiling,
To help you overcome your own fears and those of others.
    And I wish you silence,
In which to recognise the Will of our Creator
Who loves us and is alive in each one of us,
    And constantly reveals His/Her presence
Also in you and your life.

I wish for peace in our world, within and without.
May it flow from God’s loving heart and ours
Into the farthest, remotest corners of our world,
For the blessing and healing of all life.
May God’s wisdom and truth come alive in every heart,
The only place where it is known and can be born.

I wish that the creative fire of the Gods,
The ideas that constantly emerge from God’s loving heart,
May lighten and warm everybody’s days,
So that His/Her greatest dreams and visions,
As well as our own, can come true,
For us, our world and all other worlds.

I wish for the renewal of compassion and love in all humankind,
So that hand in hand with God and the Angels
All of us can learn to comfort the bereaved
And reassure those who are frightened, lonely and in pain,
Until no-one has to endure those states any more.

I wish that God’s courage and strength comes alive
In each and every one, so it can be shared by all
And hope, faith and trust are renewed in our world,
Until every last one of us becomes capable of
Ascending to the heights of Divine compassion.

I wish for the Great Mother’s wisdom and love to flow
More and more into every heart and soul,
So that once again we may walk together as one big family,
    Peacefully and forever united.
With all my heart and all my soul and all my being,
I wish for peace, harmony, and healing
To come to our inner and outer world,
All worlds and all beings, whoever they may be
    And wherever they are.

Although at the moment this is still a dream,
I know in my heart of hearts that one day it will come true,
And that it will happen through ordinary folks like you and me,
For when the living God has come alive
In every human heart and soul,
All things shall indeed be possible.

    Amen

Sometimes I perceive that the government wants civil unrest and just keeps "poking the bear" with anything and everything available to cause it. If anything, there doesn't seem to be anywhere near enough hysteria for the government's taste.

"Foreigners are invading to give you deadly diseases and kill you all," just seems to the latest in a long and heavy series of "pokes" and I am sure there will be something new and flashy in the news soon enough.

Someone just told me that the Swine Flu vaccine in 1976 caused more death and illness than the disease it was intended to prevent.

This did not find this surprising, neither will you when you have read:

It's in our hands not by into the general scaremongering and panic-making,
not merely about the Ebola outbreak but always.

The ebola thing- I'm more scared of it because people are very international and I'm told its spread easily though sneezing and droplets being alive for 24 hours its easily transmitted its the fact of people traveling too often from the affected region. With nurses getting sick taking care of the ebola patients with the precautions i'm wary about it.

Contagious viruses like this are slightly different today, because of their ability to be deposited hundreds of thousands of miles away from their origins. While you shouldn't worry, it's more of an awareness that comes with the technology and practices we utilize.
That being said, don't be lead by a carrot of fear. But in the same breath, don't be dismissive of a situation. Our societies travel. And we travel fast. It takes about 13 hours to get from the UK to the west coast of Canada. This whole ebola thing is a good excuse to educate people on the world of bio organisms, viruses and such. However, the people feeding the information rarely care about the individuals. They more care about what they think a human being is, especially in their own societies. So, you'll be herded. Imo. Doesn't mean the understanding of virus's is irrelevant. If you go to a region on the planet that has contagious virus's, it's your responsibility to look after yourself, and make sure you don't become a carrier. Besides that, your next conflict is excessive paranoia because of the Unknowns.

Well drowned good news no study has yet shown Ebola can be transmitted via sneezing or coughing. It is theoretically possible, it is not like ebola is new or anything it has been studied for a good while. It may interest you to know that sneezing and coughing are not even core symptoms of ebola.

Although Aquairus has been well meaning with what she has posted a large amount of it is barely credible and not even relevant. Some of it even smacks of the anti vaccine movement which I have nothing but a hostility for. You have got a choice to go educate yourself or live in misguided states of fear. The real problem you see is education is so busy telling people what to think it does not bother to teach them how to critically think and survive the psychological warfare of the consumer machine of manipulations and spin. It rarely shows you to how to sift information for grounded factual substance that renders opinion irrelevant. So you can scoff in mockery when fed bullshit or even spot misrepresentation of statistics or psychological manipulations that drive an impulse purchase you later regret.

This hysteria is also ugly, it reeks of western privilege. This outbreak is nothing new it has been ongoing for quite some time, with the death toll stacking up. The media frenzy only truly started to get going when it made land fall outside of effected areas. Prior to that though no one really cared much. Why would they, why would you even care? This sums up to me the true sickness. People only give a shit when it is on their doorstep. Which cements to me why humanity as a whole is likely doomed as it faces growing global crisis's, not from ebola, but from selfishness and stupidity. Like the myriad of pandemics labs your taxes pay for, home to genetically modified weaponised death, one earthquake or act of human error away from being released. All the while twisted geopolitics goes on that allows us to go on eating Mc Donalds and twittering about the latest Iphone, that was made by people that leapt to their deaths from shit work conditions. Those same work condition you are likely competing against in the job market and wondering why bread is so damn expensive.

Aquarius is wrong you should be afraid, afraid of a future driven by a cannibalistic mentality. Where life only matters when it is your life and effecting you and your particular tribe. You can see the symptoms of it all around you, this hysteria and division is simply to distract you from it and feed into the meat grinder. Fear and misinformation sells shit. Stops you demanding a better way, an ethical way. That is not quite so hopeless. That considers the heritage of your children's children.

Ebola in truth is the least of our worries. You should watch Soylent Green, I am starting to think it is prophetic.

Ebola does not spreed fast or very easy, if you are worried about it then the flu should strike utter fear into your heart. The sad thing is how we in the first world country's react to the plight of those in third world country's. Excuse me if I sound a little insensitive here, but we have this grand idea in america that it is the brown people's problem over their and why should we care and that attitude just sickens me. Instead of us offering help we want to close our boarders and stop medical professionals the opportunity to lend support and help because the media has driven us to this level of fear. Instead of stomping this outbreak into the ground we offer bullshit platitudes of well we send you our best wishes and get better soon cards rather then muster the funds that are needed to stop the outbreak.

It's a pretty ugly tactic tbh. Become aware of someone you "dont" connect with but see they are suffering. Then highlight the cause of the suffering, then trail it all the way back to your nation. It's one method of making your nation care about the suffering other parts of the world deal with. Though I dont agree with fear, it should be about redirecting Aid to specific infrastructure and sanitation developing/education so the people in those countries can combat it themselves.

But I figure on my depressive ugly side that the majority of these situations are being used to justify actions in our Nations, that have little do with the other Nations who are dealing with the actual problems. Your fear, is a new social momentum.
Apathetic. But ... maybe alot of us refuse to work with eachother because we know bullshit and deceit

  14. Adam

Most likely Sblake, I don't view that as depressive, sounds realistic to me, humanity is fast becoming solely a commodity measured only in the worth of your bank balance, everything else that falls short of that ideal is to be demonised. Unfortunately for the powers that be the commodities are getting restless and are demanding more than being disposable cogs. So more efforts are being made to revoke democratic rights and freedoms under various guises. So few are aware of the various riots going on across the planet as the media web is more effective than china's blatant censorship. Because the shit is most certainly going to hit the fan if this cannibalism of our children's future continues. But point this shit out and you are the one accused of being hysterical.

Here is just the thing for anyone into whose heart all kinds of flu strike utter fear:

Natural Flu Protection – The Humble Onion

The time of year when the danger of catching the common cold or its most severe form, flu, comes round surprisingly quickly each year and with it the need for refreshing our memories about natural ways of protecting ourselves and our loved ones against all manner of airborne bacteria, including any flu viruses that may be at large. Let me begin with the story one of my friends told me some time ago of how when, as a child, he was in hospital and near dying. His Italian/African grandmother came to visit him and she told a family member to go buy her a large onion and a clean pair of white cotton socks. She sliced the onion open, then put a slice on the bottom of each of his feet and pulled the socks over this. In the morning when he awoke and the socks were removed, they found that the slices of onion had turned black and his fever was gone.

The following has been reported from the year 1919 when a flu virus is believed to have killed forty million people. One of the doctors, who visited people to see if he could help them, came upon a farm where, to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked how this was achieved, the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the main room of their house. There would probably not have been more than two rooms in any case. The doctor couldn’t believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. Clearly, through absorbing the bacteria, the onion had kept the family healthy.

Another story I heard from a hairdresser. She said that several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the flu and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick and that certainly convinced her that it works. And no, I am not sharing this information with you because I am in the onion business. So, how about buying some onions and placing them in bowls around your home? If you work at a desk, place one or two in your office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see what happens. The friend who sent me this says they did it in their home and they never got the flu.

If this helps us and our loved ones not to become sick, what could be better? But even if you do get the flu, because of the healing influence of the onion it will probably be only in a mild form. What is there to lose, apart from a few pence or cents on onions?

One lady reports as follows: ‘I contracted pneumonia and needless to say I was very ill. I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put one end on a fork and then place the forked end into an empty jar, placing the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs. Sure enough it happened just like that. The onion was a mess, but I began to feel better.’

Another thing I read somewhere was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague in times gone by because of their powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.

Following the advice, I placed onions strategically all over my home, and I have to say, they do look quite decorative. One stands in a small wooden bowl in my living room and creates the impression of a sculpture. And by the way, because the onions do not have to be peeled, no unpleasant smells linger.

After reading the above, one of my friends contacted me with this: ‘I have tried both onion and garlic on ear infections. At one time my ear drum had actually burst, and even though I had been to see the doctor twice, each time she refused to prescribe antibiotics. This was because there was no redness in my ear canal thanks to the onion and garlic I had placed over it. I think she only believed me when, on my third visit, a discharge was evident.

‘My Grandmother used to place an onion in a bowl of water in rooms that had been painted and decorated, to take away the smell of the fumes.’

From Dian Dincin Buchman’s excellent book ‘Herbal Medicine’ come the following two remedies: ‘Coughs: An old pioneer remedy consists of simmered honey and onion syrup. The onion may be juiced first and added to the honey, if this seems desirable. If available, add a pinch of thyme and ginseng powder, as both are very helpful in chest complaints.’

‘Coughs, Bronchitis, Asthma: Make an onion broth. Cut up a large red onion. If you haven’t got one, a white one will work, too. Add a pint of cold water, a pinch of salt and a pat of butter and simmer until the onion is soft. Place the broth in a hot bowl and eat it as hot as possible, without removing the onion pieces. Minerals from the onion and its mucilaginous properties help soothe the inflamed mucous membranes and induce perspiration. This helps to reduce the chest congestion and causes the release of toxins.’

    @ Aquarius123 - ;)

@Adam - I tend to believe that the general consensus of regular people is fractured. There's little momentum that's moving through our groups that bring us all together. But I think this might be because we avoid, and don't listen. And those who perform certain acts do it in the shadows. Problem is they are encroaching rather rapidly. But all I have is a very weak first hand experience. Truth be told, I've done fuck all in the last 10 years so I am running off of things I thought of a decade ago+. Now a days it feels the influence of the media is getting stronger.

God sometimes I just wish I had a fucking life so I could see through all this bullshit and see how things really are. Tired of words that have no substance.

Will try the onion method next time I'm sick. It doesn't need to be unpeeled? The germs stuck in the onion does it make it inedible?

For the Ebola thing, I'm still saying I'm wary. Few deaths with best medicine we got to offer in the US. When our doctors and nurses cry because they're stuck treating the infected makes it more real to me.

I truly believe I have a better chance of being struck by lightning, then contracting ebola. We really need to keep this disease in perspective.
