    She walks through the gardens,
    looks at the flowers
    to pause by the water.
    And down by the lake
    there's a little white swing
    moving in the wind
    "summer's nearly here."

    Up to her castle
    her fairytale castle
    up on the hill
that looks out to the world.
    Into her turret
    the flowers follow her
    they dance on the walls
    making her laugh
    like a child, she smiles
    so sweet, so innocent

The king of the castle built it
    just for his little princess
    he's wrapped around her finger
    his eyes sparkle with adoration
    nothing comes between them

    But wait
    she's all grown now
    she sees through the lies

    The gardens are weeds
    the flowers are wilted
    the water is ice
    the lake is black
    the little white swing
    is all broken down
    all she can think is,
    "summer never came."

    She looks at her castle
    her fairytale castle
    turned into a nightmare
    she's not in her turret
    she's down in the dungeon
    no flowers will follow her
    that's where shadows dance
    she cries, she hides
    begging to wake from this

    Here comes the king
    no longer caring
    about his little princess
    his dull, lifeless eyes wander
the only thing close to him
that will never let him down
    is his castle
    his fairytale castle
    not his princess, who's left,

Your choice of words paint a very vivid picture. I can easily imagine this beautiful story book castle, then suddenly seeing it decay into a shell of itself.

It flows well, I found myself whispering the words as I read. Very good poem!

    Beautiful. Vivid. Wonderful. Sad.

One of the best things I've read today.
