No one to let down their hair,
    I'm not a Prince Charming,
    There is no Sleeping Beauty,
    As much as I wish,
A genie will not grant it,
    The story book romance,
    With missing pages,
    One glass slipper,
    shattered apart like me,
Fanciful escapes to freedom from these chains,
    Not on the horizon,
    My life is a fairytale,
Only not the kinda I was told,
    Happily ever after,
Will never be written for me.

Great use of imagery and allusuion. I particularly like your lines "The storybook romance, / With missing pages" and "One glass slipper, / Shattered apart like me."

I hope the concept for the poem is not completely autobiographical for you...Remember that we don't know what the future might bring. Our lives (our stories?) are written while we live them. There could be a princess out there on her way to the situation in which you'll eventually meet one one another.

Nice poem! I guess I can relate to the whole 'fairy tales not happening for me' kind of thing.
