This is the right wall in my bedroom. The rug at top right hung in my parent's house for years, I remember it when I was growing up. I bought the poster below it on eBay and made the frame from wood salvaged from my maternal grandfather Christian's barn when it was torn down. The hammer on the frame shelf was his. The brown jug to the left of the poster was my parent's. The maple leaf shelf in the center was made by my paternal grandfather Andrew, he made one for each of my siblings and I. On the maple leaf shelf is my maternal grandfather's plane. The picture at top left was taken by my ex-wife's grandfather. I had the photo enlarged from a negative he loaned me and made the frame from a tree that I had milled into lumber. Having these things grounds me in my heritage, it ties me to the earth. Every time I see them I am reminded of family.
