    fear
    the stark pain
    which wrenches the soul
    with its tortuous grasp

    fear
    freezing the mind
    creating fear-laden
    realities

    fear
    cleaving
    the sunlight
    into night’s black

    fear
    icy tendrils creeping
    through the body,
    freezing the blood

    fear
    always hungry,
    eager to feed
    on those hurt
    before

    fear
    my constant
    companion
    my greatest
    nemesis
