    Walls of sheet rock
    Brick in between us
    I know you are there
    Maybe thinking of me?

    Its not just the walls
Its the history that bleeds us
    I remember you cared
Do you still think of me?

    I hear you come home
    As I listen for you
    Your memory will echo
    And I'm thinking of you

    I catch myself wondering
    How it could have been
If I'd just let you closer
If I'd just let you in...

    But now my heart listens
    For sounds that it knows
    The sounds of you living
And your steps in the snow...

Its the quiet that killed us
    And the quiet that knows
    The secrets that stilled us
And the pain that it shows

    Theres times that a scent
    Reminds me of you
    Eraseing the present
    Im caught up in you

    Just like a wound
    Will drip itself dry
    I pray for the day
    These thoughts cauterize

    I see you sometimes
    Leaveing for work
    Suddenly stuck
    I choke on my words

    I want to yell out
But I trip on my cry
    Im scared of the pain
    Im too scared to try...

    My heart still cries out
    To you as you pass
    I stare from my safety
    Stuck in my past...

    Instead I retreat
    Secure with my walls
    And listen instead
To your feet as they fall...
