    What's that all about eh?

It's like going up to a poverty stricken child, saying 'do you want to play on this games console, it's lots of fun'. So they have a go, like it and then you take it away, say goodbye, and leave them with the realisation that they'll never be able to afford one or play on one ever again. It was fun for a moment, but surely they would have been better off never having had a go in the first place?

I'm not saying it's wrong though, it's good for some, bad for others, I just find it strange.

People shouldn't delude themselves, people should accept reality. What is our reality? To quote from animal farm...

'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others"

Maybe nobody would deny me a hug
    But I shouldn't accept a hug
I should simply accept reality, the way things are.

When people say they are unlovable, people say that they're not
That's like telling a blind person to open their eyes and see
You have to accept the way things are
Everybody is 'accepted and loved', but some are more 'accepted and loved' than others.

To me 'huggers' try to make you believe that things can be different.
They are simply lying to you, decieving you
Forcing you to question your reality.
That's not good... or maybe it is?
    I don't pretend I know anything.

I'm not trying to prove a point. To me the debating forum is not about 'winning' or 'losing'. It's about trying to understand. If we read and write things here but fail to increase our understanding then it is pointless.

In some cultures of the world, hugging is very common amongst friends.

It's like a handshake to them, it simply communicates respect.

In rave culture, hugging is popular between strangers.

I believe it should be done to express happiness.

If you feel like hugging, it's not deceptive.

It's a mutual thing between people.

You either accept it or don't.

    It's still your decision.

forever the diplomat, you summed that up well Syd.

Im not keen on touchy feely people on the whole but I know for sure that theres been times in my life when hugs have literally stopped me from topping myself. its an innocent form of bonding, some people blow there meaning out of all proportion, probably they have a fear of intimacy I'd guess, but I know who my friends are by the way they react when Im feeling low. we are human, no matter how much we try and deny it
