From An Apathetic American To The Child Of The Future

    Dear Child,

I am sorry that when it was easy for me to speak freely, that I chose to be silent. I am sorry that because I did not pick up a pen to defend my rights, that you will have to pick up a gun to defend yours. I am sorry that I always made excuses as to why my voice wasn't important and why yours wouldn't be needed.

I am sorry that when I could find the time to vote, that I voted for a party instead of a person who belived in liberty. I am sorry that I studied 6 hours of television every night instead of 20 minutes of history, then maybe I would of seen this coming.

I am sorry that I did not realize history is filled with tyrants and that without my vigilance liberty would wither. I am sorry that fashion, sports, and celebrities were more important to me than your future.

But most of all, I am sorry for the sacrifice you will have to give with your life to redeem the basic human rights which I lost, when all it took was for me to stand up and say no to tyranny.

    Sincerely,
    The Forgotten American
