I know what getting old is.

  1. It's losing a piece of yourself everyday
  2. Losing your health
  3. Losing your money
  4. Losing your ability to contribute.
  5. Losing friends and family
  6. Losing your job
  7. Watching friends get old and fail, while you do the same
  8. losing eye sight
  9. losing a spouse in death
  10. losing hearing
  11. losing a home
  12. losing mental acuity
  13. watching the world change in ways that both horrify and astound
  14. losing the ability to walk
  15. to care for your home
  16. to pay for health care
  17. to drive a car
Old age is about losing. All the things you have built up and loved over the years.
It happens a little bit at a time and eventually destroys you.
It is a cruel process. I wish it were much less cruel.

All the above, you covered it well. And I wish wishes would come true sometimes.

And you think back on your life and reflect. Both on the good and the bad. Mostly bad. And wonder how different your life, and death, would be if you had made different decisions.
That is dangerous territory for me, the bad is glaring and has become challenging to avoid thinking of some days, like today. I'm sad and sorry we are experiencing this age this way.
