You fancy the tales of knights
Of great men in shining steel
Fighting for glory and their king
    Safeguarding the land from evil
Of noble men with crowns of gold
    Working for their people
Feeding not while their people starve
    Of brave young men
With nothing but their own hands
Defending fair maidens from savagery and ruin
    You dream of majestic dragons
    Soaring in the sky
Keeping their eternal watch upon the world
Of beautiful elves in enchanted forests
    Nurturing all that lives
Of stoic dwarves in mountain halls
Mining up the deep riches of the earth
Their so fine it brings men to tears
You dream of honour, loyalty, and friendship
    But your dreams are hollow

    Heroes are no more
    Every man is craven
Every king is ruled by greed
    And no maiden is fair
No dragon flies in the sky
No elf lives in the tree
And no dwarf mines in the earth

No knight dies a noble death
Those who die in battle see not their enemy's face
Those who do not die in battle die alone
After withering away of disease and despair
Demented and forgotten, put away to rot

    There is no happy end
    No-one lives happily ever after
    The princess is *****d out
And the prince is a slave
    The noble is a criminal
And the king is a fool

Wow took a fantasy world and destroyed it didn't thou
i hope you feel so much better now
    for with imagination comes relief
    of sadness and pain
with imagination a journey can be obtained
one can travel so far and flee from ones enemies
    i like to make believe
    even though i know
there are no fairies or fair maidens per say
no knights in shining armor at the end of the day
i will use this escape to set me free
even for an hour of my misery
