    vile hands explore reddened skin
fingers leave scares on its surface
    like locusts devouring every inch
    leaving nothing but barren waste

his lips are a prelude to teeth marks
that tear viciously at delicate flesh
blood slowly drips past freedoms gate
    temporarily staining the wolf’s fangs

knuckles pound away like a hammer
    driving in life’s misguided nails
    erecting self-doubt and self-hate
with a destructive molt of acidic tears

crushed reflection peers back in disgust
Seeing only shattered dreams and doubt
she writes in hope of a simple peace
but only lives the bound truth of her heart
