Chosen from a home, how lucky was i?
Not aborted and killed and left to die
Chosen from a plain room, with many a bed
Taken home and sheltered, given warmth and well fed

Why did she choose, not love and hold me tight
Why did she choose, not to win agaisnt the fight
Presented by her nanny to her own mum and dad
She did not know what loving was, that makes me real sad

Both of them you see, from an old bygone age
Unable, unwilling, to turn that crisp, new page
Cold and strict was my life, as a child
Later on in life, i was bound to go wild

Mum i forgive you, but wish you had shown me
Love, hugs and laughter like a proper family
Though you are dead now, and lie next to your mate
Remember Mum, i beat him because its never, too, late

Pete, your poetry is so full of evocative imagery. It's poignant but it gives such insight into you, highlights the strength inside of you that shines through. The pain, yes, but the strength too, and I admire that.

That is very profound. You can see so much more than the word on the page.
