Hey guys, here's my predicament

    My names alfie and I've been feeling really down lately

    It's all to do with my weight loss and family issues

    So i have a brother who has CFS( chronic fatigue syndrome ) and it makes life a lot harder as we all have to tend to his needs. Not only this but my friends won't stop teasing me about my weight atm, I'm 5'9 and weigh 83kg, just on overweight and im having real trouble losing my weight. I need help with it :( i started looking online All this stress and anxiety just leads to me having suicidal thoughts such as 'It would be easier if I wasn't alive'

    I came here to look for advice./ help with my situation.

    Hi welcome to SF Can you get your doc to refer you to a nutrition specialist hun One who can help you with setting up a diet to help you lose weight
    Your brother needs to look after himself hun i know it is hard for him but you are not his care giver ok You look after you hun hugs

    Hi Alfie.... welcome to SF. Sorry to hear about your brother, but good that one of the best things that you can do for you is to reach out for perspective and support. There are many caring souls on this forum who will listen and give suggestions.
    As far as your "friends" go.....who tease you...... are they really being 'friends' by putting this extra stress on your life? It would make you feel a lot more in control of your situation if, next time they do it, you had some ready "push-backs" to give to them -
    "A gentle answer turns away wrath" - so you don't need to say it with any barbs attached, just a sincere "I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't make these personal comments to me at this time, I'm not finding it helpful"........... etc.

    If they choose to get offended over this, they are not really being friends. Sometimes we have to learn to confront 'teasing' that is only thinly-veiled bullying. But, when we do it in a nice way, it makes us stronger, hun :) Don't let them get you down over it.

    ...... and a very broad tip for the weight-loss thing......

    pretend you are Chines and Google TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine...... they look upon food as medicine, basically. What it means is, that once you are convinced that processed foods are awful for you, steer your way onto only natural foods - and NOTHING with high-fructose corn syrup in it.

    This way, you will be medicating both your body and your mind....... I read a magazine article about a girl who did just this..... cut out the gluten and the dairy too, if at all possible.......and she lost all her excess and got down to a model figure. It's been working for me as well this past year - over time, you will lose your cravings for the foods that inhibit weight loss.
