Hi everyone, “fromzeroto” here.

I’m going through a . . . complicated time at the moment. Came across these forums while looking for something else (I think judging from the title of this website we know where my train of thoughts was riding) and I thought I’d sign up, what the hell.

Hi @Holding my breath, thank you for the welcome.

It’s a little difficult, I apologise. I might have to pen an essay for the “My Story” section at some point, but basically a lot of guilt and shame over the way I’ve lived much of my life. I’m trying to become a better man, but there’s a considerable weight of regret concerning much of my past. I was very low earlier but happened across this website . . . and here we are!

Hello, @fromzeroto - All you can (really) do, is to acknowledge that mistakes were made in the past--which it seems you have--try to rectify those which can be corrected; & then from there you've just got to do your best to "learn from them." And then move on! Do what you can to be better in the future. If that means going the little extra mile in some places where you can, then by all means please do so, if you feel fit enough to help or contribute in any way or matter of sense. I hope I am making sense, as I have all of a sudden lost all train of thought, and lost nearly every-thing suddenly: and in this moment! Such is (my) life (anyway). . .
Sincerely,
Mr. B~

Hi @MisterBGone, thank you for your reply. That’s the plan, I’ve got a lot of self improvement and acceptance, as well as amends and corrections to work on.

Yes, your reply totally made sense. It’s what I’ve been thinking for a while now!
Good for you, @fromzeroto ! Keep up the good work and full speed ahead--> I'm proud of you & happy to hear that...

I think you'll really like this community. Everyone here cares about you and we're glad to have you with us instead of searching for what you were originally searching for. It sounds like you may need to forgive yourself for your past. You mentioned you have to make amends to other people, which is also a good thing, but I think before you do that, forgiving yourself should be the first step you take to subside the guilt and shame you mentioned. None of us are perfect. We've all made many mistakes in life. No one is exempt from that. We have to accept this and try to move on as best we can, hoping to become better people in the future and learn from our mistakes.

It sounds like you are trying really hard to turn things around, for that you should be really proud of yourself. It can be all too easy to focus on the past and allow the guilt to take hold, but it is so much better to look forward and make your days ahead count. It sounds to me like you’ve already started to turn things around. Keep talking and sharing, we’d love to hear how you get on and what you’re doing. Xx
