What do people typically do when they have to eat a big dinner with their family for a holiday?

I managed to eat a semi-decent amount of turkey today, but I'm just curious as to what others do.

i freak out, i hate it. but usually if its something big like Christmas, i try real hard to be kind to myself and to let myself eat . its hard, but i keep saying to myself its okay, and that my body needs it.

I eat as much as I normally eat.
No one usually makes me eat more- but if they try; I can always say 'I'm feeling sick.' since my family knows that I get sick often.

Today was much worse for me - we were at an elderly family friend's. I couldn't really say no, I even ate seconds. Felt like shit afterwards, even though my initial portion was not that large.

    I hate this...
