How do you conceal your scars?

I always wear long sleeves - though that's not even the main reason I wear long sleeves. It's a long story, but I always wore long sleeves even before I self harmed.

I'd like to go swimming, but I don't fancy having them on display. I'm just wondering what you guys use to cover yours up? Is there some sort of long wristband I can wear? I mean, like for sex too... and by sex I mean - having it with someone you barely know (don't judge), so it's not like you'll be able to trust them to be ok with it... the last thing you wanna see (aside from genital warts) is a self-mutilated arm. I bought a bandage and can just say I broke my wrist or whatever to anyone who might ask.. but just wondering what you guys use to cover them up? Lots of bracelets?

I use tubi-grip and say I sprained my wrist or dye them nice colours, cut the feet and tops off tights and wear them over my arms, fake tan can help or specialist make up depending on what your scars are like - raised ones don't cover so well. Arm warmers and fingerless gloves are in all the shops he athe moment so i use them too

    I know this doesn't really help, but I don't.

I have always been a fast healer, and scars are no exception. The cuts healed quickly with no fuss, and the scars have been fading steadily... they are still quite visible, and certainly noticeable, but considering they are confined to my shoulder and upper thigh they do not get a lot of air time to begin with.
I was also never a "big" cutter. I may have a lot of scars, but each one individually is not that bad.

But honestly, I don't care any more if people see or notice my scars. They are part of my life, they are part of me.
    Birthmarks, I call them.

Though when I had/have open cuts, I do keep things concealed. Long sleeves mostly (again, being only really on the shoulder a 3/4 sleeve, or even a longer tee shirt usually kept things covered for me...).
Though the few I had on my wrist/forearm I would use a tensor bandage around my whole hand/wrist. Complain of my carpal tunnel. (One of the treatments for CTS is to keep the wrist bound to prevent motion. It is the one I use most often to ease pain in my wrist, so it is not entirely unusual for me to have a bound wrist anyway.).

As for sex... in my opinion if you are not comfortable with them seeing the scars, you probably shouldn't sleep with them, so I can't really give any advice there. Not judging, just saying I don't know.
The two people I have slept with (neither of which I know very well, in my opinion) I was comfortable enough with them that one of them I didn't care if te saw my scars, and the other... I specifically showed them to her. I liked it when she would touch them. -shrug-

We obviously have different experiences, from size, extent and placement of scars to attitudes about them but I still felt like answering. Hope that's okay.

I used to wear long sleeves in 4-5 years ago, but now my arm scars are mostly faded. Now my worry is shorts. I wear pants, leggings with shorts over them, leggings, or lounge pants. No shorts, no swim shorts.

I haven't had sex in a really long time, but when I did, honestly... I never did with the lights on. The dark is the best concealer there.

As far as hiding the scars goes, I am worse when I SH below the waist area. Because it's easier to hide. A long pair of swimming trunks goes a long way (gender irrelevant). Though, if you do it below the thighs, too, that might not work. (I do myself, but for now, they're all on the inside of my legs... so, as long as I don't move around too much, no one is "looking" to see) When I have fresh ones on my arms, I usually wear long sleeves. I have, however, made use of arm warmers (I used to buy mine at Hot Topic) and wrist bands. If you're not afraid of "standing out" a few wrist bands goes a long way. In high school/middle school, I'd pile them up to my elbow. Don't do that too often any more. Mostly because people pick up on the trick. Honestly, I don't bother hiding the ones on my arms that often any more. Sometimes, people will point them out. But rarely. It seems most people don't bother asking. If they're thinking anything about it, that's not my problem. It's the ones on my upper legs and thighs I bother hiding. Because, like I said, they're the worst. I know it's not much help... but my best answer is just that... clothes.

    I don't. At first I would wear long-sleeves. Simple.
But then I realized that no one noticed.
I would sit, wearing short-sleeves, my arms up on my desk.
And no one noticed. I got no funny looks, nor did anyone talk to me.
    I just stopped hiding them.

Depends on what your scars are like. I have many scars on my arms and one huge one on my left arm and I always wear long sleeves. It's a real nuisance because just yesterday I was offered a job as a waitress but I couldn't accept it, even though I really wanted it, because of my arms. I'll never run away from the past. It seems to drag you down your whole life. I mean, your past deeds.. so you end up doing it over and over again because society has no understanding for people who are different in that way. Sorry. Started ranting a bit...
Wear long sleeves or cover them up with make-up. If you have money, get them surgically removed.

Honestly I don't cover mine either. I have them on my forearms and legs. If someone asks then I tell them the truth and hope that it will help someone NOT to harm themselves.

The vast majority of my scars are on my legs, so I only wear long skirts, or trousers, thats all I do to hide them. Have no reason to be showing my legs off.

I'm like this. I don't bother hiding them when they're on my fore arms.
My thighs are another matter. They're the worse ones, so I just wear jeans or short shorts
And I bought board shorts for when I go swimming
