I dont want to go to the army.

The title pretty much explains it. Im 17 years old which means i should be recieving a medical checkup invitation. My only hope is that I will not qualify for the army, which im sure I will because besides the fact im a little overweight im healthy. I dont want to spend 11 months getting beaten up by some skinheads as soon as they notice the cuts on my arm. Scars aside i look very young for my age. I always hate it when people ask my age because after i tell them im 17 they will either be amazed or laugh at me thinking im kidding.
I'm really freaking out about this army shit and refusing to go would only get me a ticket to jail which would be worse.

If you have cuts and depression, likely you won't pass the medical. They are supposed to check your head as well as your body. Tell the doc you have depression and show the cuts as proof. You should be ok.

My 19 yr old bro got some sort of letter letting him know he'd been chosen and is on some list of ppl who would be pulled if they ever reinstated the draft. He had to register or he faced jail. So now he's registered. Apparently they are doing this to everyone who was born between certain years. I just missed the quota-luckily for me-but I would be a deserter if I were ever callled into service. My bro has plans, backed by the rest of my family, of fleeing the country should he be called into service. I don't know what the hell this country is doing..... :blink:

Dunno what country you're in, but is it possible to claim some sort of Consientious Objector status? The USA hasn't had a draft in 30 years, but back then people could avoid military service by doing public service in hospitals, that sort of thing.

Sometimes if you have problems the army will admit you in an attempt to "straighten you out".... they like to say that service will do that for you. :blink: It's just an excuse to make ppl serve though, I do not believe that whatsoever or by any means that the army can reform you successfullly.

I looked it up but it seems i can only do that if i dont pass the medical or for religious reasons

I really don't know if that will stop you from getting into the army. I had scars of self injury on my arms and they still took me. Another female had he who arm full of cuts and they took her. You should try googleing medical requirement for entering the army. I know that it says that if you were seeing a therapist for more than 6 months then you can't get in. I was in for three years and no one knew about my scars unless it outright showed them. Good luck with everything I hope all goes well.
