I wrote this in the fifth grade for a competition, and I won (sad, huh?). It was one of my first poems (third I think it was). Anyway, the HalfBlind peanut gallery is now open! (enjoy if you can)

    I Drag On:

Day by day I drag on,
In a life I wish was gone.
I never thought life could be this way,
    A sacrifice living each day.
Life is the burden I drag on,
Something I can’t carry for long.
    It’s because I’m getting weak,
A fact that grows week by week.
I end each day wishing I could cry,
But I don’t because I know I’m going to die.
This draws not a tear, but an understanding,
That my life will soon be ending.
It seems I never will see,
what a happy life can be.
Life, this thing I drag on,
I do not fear, because soon, I’ll be gone…

No wonder you won the competition. You're a really good writer! Heartbreaking poem, though.
