Practical Advice I have autism and ADHD diagnosis and i got banned from AspieFriends Discord server...

#1
Hi. I have autism and ADHD diagnosis and i got banned from AspieFriends Discord server... The ban reason called as; "boundary issues, not a good fit for this discord"... They think i'm annoying person and they expect i act like normal people. If they are autistic too, they should understand me well. I am socially awkward. And also, i don't have any friends in real life. I am 23 and i'm addicted to the internet. If they ban autistic people too, then why they build a server called "AspieFriends" ? This is not supporting, it was just very disgraceful act.

At 24 July 2010, i was diagnosed by associate professor psychiatrist and i get PDD-NOS and ADHD, Anxiety diagnosis. At 2022 Q1, i get latest diagnose called Asperger Syndrome. It was also noted that my abstract thinking was not developed.

If I'm on a server with people like myself, it's important to be comfortable in that environment. If they create a feeling of anxiety in me, I think management is bad. It makes me think that Admins and Moderators can be non-autistic. Because I know that people with autism have difficulties in obeying the rules and social rules. Same goes for me. Moderators, on the other hand, are responsible for strictly obeying and supervising the rules.

OMG WTF they are doing. I don't understand.
As you see I got an ASD (Asperger's) diagnosis last year... it was really hard to even communicate online, in my case... recently I kept isolating myself, because too many social interactions are such a burden and I see no way out. And it reminds me of a case, damn I'm so angry when I think about it: that it's really likely that a well-known internet celebrity who's publicly suffering from autism (namely Asperger's) in my country that actually is a predator on aspie females... I really don't understand... they see us like vulnerable and easy to take advantage of.
Unfortunately I think it's just hard for people like us to... like I mean that being in a group chat this very thing makes me feel uncomfortable because socializing is so hard!!! I prefer non-instant communication tool like forums and emails. I'm so sorry about what happened there, really so sorry (literally I don't understand how they can be so high functioning and in charge of a chat etc but I understand it's just different for different cases... like I'm very high functioning in studying etc but suck at socialization, but maybe in their case that socializing is easier. Not excluding the possibility that they are not on the spectrum at all...) Yes I believe that just like that accommodations they may made for autistic individuals at universities, those people in that server should really take into considerations that different individuals have different difficulties (due to their autistic trait) when it comes to functioning in a discord server, for example. I feel terribly sorry for what happened to you there...
sorry I may type this in a weird way because I'm a mess myself. Still want to let you know that you are not alone and sending hugs!*hug

The role of admins and moderators is to exactly enforce the hardline rules and to guide and help people to follow the rest. Its supposed to be a give and take and judgement call system, especially when dealing with mental health and developmental issues. A site which specifically deals with aspergers should be ready for people with boundary issues and guided and warned first.

I don't think this is down to an aspie vs normie thing, its probably what I see all too often. People see everyone as replaceable. They never bother to try to solve issues, they just write the person off and move on, and these kinds of people should not be admins and moderators.

Hopefully you should have a better time here, the admins and moderators on this site do a very good job and usually quite discreetly.

There are many aspies here too, so if there isnt one already you could probably set up an aspie thread or two.

You are perfectly understandable. :)

Thanks. By the way, I generally prefer closed communication channels such as DM. I'm generally not good at speaking in open groups, on servers. :(

*hugs you too*

Sometimes I even forget the rules and warnings. It's too late before I realize it.

Have you considered writing down the really BIG rules and just putting them up next to the screen when you go on SF to remind yourself? That's what I would do if I kept forgetting them.

You said you sometimes forget the rules and warnings. A visual reminder of just the key rules could be helpful, even if it is just the presence of the note in your eyeline to keep it in mind.

My work is such a massive pile of stress right now, (too many things happening all at once and a work structure seemingly designed to stress out any Aspie within 100m) that Im prone to forgetting what Im doing all the time, so I like to keep notes in my eyeline to remind me of anything important. These can be an open notepad document or just a post-it note. Just having it there makes it easier to take a second in the chaos every now and then and re-focus.

I just thought maybe it could help...

Welcome and glad that you are here posting with us. One of the best things with this forum is how patient folks are, both members and staff. Especially with newer members that have joined and are still learning the ropes of things and the rules and it takes quite a bit before anything negative happens. I once had a thread taken down because it was pretty bawdy. I was new and had posted it in a section where it could be seen by anybody instead of people above a certain age. I put it as I got a reminder not a warning that I should have put it in another section. I was still learning then. As I say, quite a patient, calm natured and even handed bunch here. So I hope you will keep exploring and getting to know the place.
