There are quite a few clichés when it comes to suicide but, the two I hate the most are" I would like to have a conversation with whomever coined that phrase, Phil Donahue. What exactly constitutes a "temporary problem?" Yes, the crisis is temporary because it's impossible to live in a state of constant crisis since it would cease to be defined as crisis. Many of the mental disorders that may lead to suicide are permanent, a permanent problem not a temporary one. I wouldn't deny that, at least in the vast majority of cases, suicide elicits pain in the friends and family of the deceased. Selfish can be defined as: I can see why this term would be applied, but I think most suicidal people regard the feeling of their friends and family. Also, couldn't the term also be used by the suicidal person? I think it's selfish of the friends and family to prevent suicide. I'm not condemning that choice. I believe it is understandable.
