Thank you so much for the tag AmberMarie, and for posting this cool New Year’s themed cafe :)

1. What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful?
- Seeing my sis’s new place for the first time.
- When my time of month problem finally calmed down after being…a lot…for most of the year.
- Some people that came back into my life after not having talked for quite a while. I hadn’t been sure if we’d ever “talk again” so when we did, I was glad :)

2. What is a challenge you tackled?
Dealing with my time of month problem, having to kick and scream a bit to get the help I needed with it. I don’t like to have to make such a “fuss” like I had to, but if I hadn’t, I’d probably still be dealing with it, or worse.

3. Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
Pretty much my answer to #3 - That I was even “able” to make such a fuss like that to get what I needed. I hadn’t thought I had it in me, but I guess when it’s scary enough and kinda life or death then that helps one be more persistent about things.

4. What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?
Hopefully seriously facing and dealing with all my anxiety and various other issues ultimately related to that (especially social anxiety which I feel like I was kinda “born with”) so that I can perhaps finally have some kind of social life (as in, with real life, in person interactions). Also just in giving myself more of a chance and staying more focused on what is most important to me in life, and dwelling less on less ideal kinds of things too.

I wish everyone a happy and safe new year too :)

Thanks for opening and for tagging me @AmberMarie, and also to @JMG for tagging me too. *hug*hug
Wow, that's a really profound, and imo, much needed topic for today's cafe. 2024 is an easy one to evaluate for me. It's had its ups and downs, for sure, but it's been the best year of my life so far. It's the first year i've ever lived as my real self, that i've ever felt like i was authentically....here. I've felt this sense of peace and happiness most of the time, that i previously thought impossible for me. It's been amazing. And when prompted on this topic, most of what i have to say will inevitably centre around that.

What is a challenge you tackled?
Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?
See, these 3 questions make my point. All 3, the answer is "being trans". I tackled the challenge of being too afraid to face it, i'm proud i finally did, and the thing i'm most excited to focus on is progressing this thing further. Hopefully 2025 will be the year of hormones and laser hair removal, maybe even the start of voice training.

What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful?
The answer to this one is similar, but allows for some variation. Obviously the first one is when i finally freed myself from the prison my life used to be. The second has to be when i saw the love and acceptance i was met with by those close to me, and society at large. And the third is smaller, simpler, but no less lovely, i was grateful when E came over and helped me make my 30th birthday fun, in spite of my simple plans for it having gone to hell.

Thankyou for tagging me
3 moments that made me feel grateful are - 1. The morning of the night I spent with the guy I very dearly loved, I got my result and I came 2nd in class
2. The day when I was really not okay, going back into my suicidal thoughts and to tackle them I started remembering all the good things and I remembered that there is a person out there who shared my baggage a bit and what they did, and other things that I was grateful about helped me get through that day and feeling
3. When I finished reading the book that my ex friend wrote
A challenge that I tackled would be to be productive more. To separate my grief from my work life. Not completely but it's been better than before. I am proud of who I am becoming, being more authentic, self reflective, trying my best in relationships, taking leaps and living for myself. I am most excited to see my community grow hopefully.

Thanks for tagging me <3 cool post
Well, I just woke up and in 1000 years, this is a morning I feel good, so I feel that this **** year has really, finally come to an end.
So, let's see...

- What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful?
Oh, my... I really do not remember being grateful this year. Small daily gratitudes to get by, of course, but that's it.

- What is a challenge you tackled?
*Went to a few drum lessons, I was scared and panicked and felt like dying every time I went, but I did it. It was super scary. Still not looking forward to the next lesson.
*And... survived the last month of course. If that wasn't a challenge, I don't know what is. I feel so broken, hope the storm has settled at least for a while.

- Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
Completely nothing. It was a traumatizing year for me. And I hope the planets will shift a bit and give me a break.

- What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?
I'm afraid to say because every time I try something positive, a demon takes it all away from me. I'm excited to focus on secrets. F you dark demons!

Happy New Year everyone,
Share the love because everything else is meaningless and not real.

Good morning. Thank you for opening and for such a terrific cafe @AmberMarie to kick off the new year.

1. 3 moments I'm grateful for include my daughter having a baby, getting my job back, and a crisis that happened while on vacation in which my daughter her friend and my fiance forgave me for.

2. A challenge a tackled was to get a new job, but I turned out to not be what I hoped. Luckily my boss hired me back.

3. Looking back what makes me proud is that I've managed to keep my depression and suicidal thoughts at bay. I believe my medicine helps and possibly being here and my friend IRL.

4. Most excited to take art classes. I wish I could do art at home but it's kind of tight in my house with my two kids here, tbh.

Happy New Years everyone.

- What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful?

The last day of my Diazepam taper/The day I noticed the withdrawals were subsiding
The day my friend offered me a chunk of money to help me out.
The day I broke up for my 2 week Christmas holidays and the sense of relief I made it to that point.

- What is a challenge you tackled?
There were many, but tackling financial problems through intensive work during horrible benzo withdrawals and bereavements and other issues, was all rolled into one massive challenge, the whole year was one big challenge.

- Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
Getting through the benzo withdrawals, digging myself out of a very large financial hole, surviving the year.

- What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?

Difficult one as I wouldn't say I'm excited, but I'll hope to have a more balanced year, maintain good finances, and hopefully feel healthier, lose weight, and keep up with my running. It being less challenging would be nice!

I’m on a tablet as my laptop is broke but I can answer some of the questions.

regarding 2024: 2024 was a disaster as far as my health was concerned. To be someone who likes exercise and being healthy I developed a very bad rash which lasted 3 weeks and a pacemaker because my heart decided not to function and a table saw accident which compounded my pain. Otherwise 2024 was okay.

one thing I am proud of is my reaction to getting laid off. I wasn’t upset but worried somewhat about finances. But I didn’t stress out. I actually had an offer about a month out before my old job was offered to me. Whether it’s secure or not remains to be seen.

regarding 2025: I intend to be as healthy as possible and that means losing weight. Also I’m hoping to work until August when I qualify for Medicare. Then I will be deciding whether to retire or not. The original plan was to work until the end of 2025 and then retire but events might conspire to change my mind.

tonight I will be babysitting my grandson for a few hours. I would rather be with my friends than babysitting but I will babysit. I may not be up until midnight anyway. So I will be on sf most of the night.

Thanks for the tag @AmberMarie and @JMG
- What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful? Moving into my new apartment, going to London for my first Tottenham match, and seeing a Capitals home game in person for the first time since I was a teenager. I never thought I would have these opportunities a decade ago when I was 20 and homeless.
- What is a challenge you tackled?
Learning how to live completely independently, without even a roommate/housemate, for the first time. It's still a work in progress.
- Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
The fact that I was able to move into an apartment by myself. Have had a goal for a while to live somewhere I had my own bathroom, not shared with anyone. So I finally achieved that.
- What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?
My new semester starting next week. I have a quantitative methods and statistics class and an independent research project, as well as a challenging-sounding elective with the one professor who is perhaps the most brilliantly intelligent man I have ever met.

- What are 3 moments from this year that made you feel grateful?
The opportunity to back to school.
The only person I've thought of as a friend initiating conversation once.
My workout routine actually becoming pleasurable.

- What is a challenge you tackled?
Got back on ad's. Maybe they've even helped. A little.

- Looking back, what’s one thing from 2024—at work or in life—that makes you proud?
Sticking to my workout and seeing the results.

- What are you most excited to focus on in the year ahead?
Playing the guitar and meditating. Making my inner world my primary one.
