Keith Olbermann and MSNBC have ended their contract, according to a statement from MSNBC. The last episode of "Countdown" will air this evening, Friday, January 21. Lawrence O'Donnell will move to 8pm; "The Ed Show" will air at 10pm.

    MSNBC's statement reads as follows:

MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Comcast merger. Also I find this a real shame, he had a very loyal fan base and I was one of them.

I'm quite certain he'll end up in a new channel, as a lot of these big media figures do.

Something HUGE must have gone down over at 30 Rock. No way they'd just let their biggest cash cow go because of "creative differences" or whatever. Like him or not, Olbermann made that network.
