    Above the windowsill
Lies a plant in full bloom
And looking out upon the forest,
    Now desolate with snow,
Failing to see the danger coming
A black and white creature crawling,
    Climbing, reaching, stealthily eyeing
With paws and claws, a small hiss escaping
From pink, ready lips to devour

And out from behind a tree
    Lies a rabbit in waiting
    Quickly darting from reach
    Of this creature's stare
Penetrating through a thin sheet of glass
    The plant soon forgotten

But as the night sets in
    Like a season's changing
    Both are cast aside
    To a bowl of milk
And a plate of fresh tuna
    Underneath the windowsill
