Knowing that I'm going to die alone is hard to accept. To the point that I feel like I should just get it over with rather than suffer.

Almost 35 and still single with only one friend who lives two states away. Statistically, I will never marry or have kids. And because my sister is past fertility age, I won't even get to be an uncle. I'd rather put an end to it soon rather than suffer the effects of permanent isolation and the madness that comes with it.

You are not alone. Whether you believe it or not, you are loved and you will not die alone. There will be someone there, someone who cares, like myself. I volunteered at a Hospice for years and held the hand of many who were dying. There are people both in physical and in spiritual that are with those who pass. People do care about you. There are people right here on this forum who care about you. I care about you. Love

I'm also 35 and single, and have a number of illnesses. That doesn't mean there isn't still plenty of time to meet someone. But contentment comes from being okay with your present situation, whether you're single or not. Life isn't all about relationships. I had to learn that myself when my marriage didn't work out. Spending several years alone helped me stop depending on romantic partners for happiness.

You have to be careful with statistics. Some men don't want to get married or have kids, so the fact that they're single and childless shouldn't be taken to mean that all single men over 35 won't be married or have kids if they want to.

Also, your life doesn't necessarily have to revolve around marriage and parenthood.

If you focus on trying to make the best you can out of your life, other things may fall into place later.
