This is what I wish someone told me so many years ago...

    Little girl there you are,
    Little girl, Look at me,
    From your knees,
    Keep your eyes on me,
    Listen to me, Little girl,
    Repeat after me, Little girl:
"I am me, I am who I am"
    Let me hear your voice,
I know your tongue is tied,
    As your hands and feet,
    But little girl,
    Repeat after me:
"I own me, I own who I am"
    Little girl, paint your lips,
    Paint your eyes,
Hide your tears from the world,
    Hide yourself if you must,
    But little girl,
Never lose the fire I see in you,
    The fire you can't find,
    It's burning bright.
    Little girl, take my hand,
    And repeat after me:
"I won, I won the right to breathe".
For little girl... I am you,
    And little girl...
Life may seem like it's over,
    Your knees may bleed,
And you feel like you can't do it,
    Breathing hurts,
    Every step seems impossible,
    But little girl...
Bang your fists into that dirty floor,
Scream it loud if you must,
    Repeat with me:
    "No, No more".
