Losing my teeth

#41
Hi Alice! I understand that tooth loss is hard, and implants may look and feel different. However, it is much better than suffering from unbearable pain or having holes where you cannot chew. So I suggest you acknowledge that you need it and don't blame anyone else
I can't say it's your fault, and people your age often begin to experience dental problems. But the aging process is natural and there is no shame in it. I hope you take care of your new teeth and don't lose them again - more dental care And good luck finding the perfect person!

What I don't understand is how my teeth just keep crumbling away so easily, they are just not strong at all, many mornings I wake and can feel the little broken fragments in my mouth from nights of grinding. There's just not even any point in the mouth guard as I still managed to break teeth with it in :( I'm sat here tonight with my mouth feeling weird due to yet another bit I recently crunched away, it's about a quarter the size of the tooth itself :( It's so disheartening.

I went through years of struggling with my teeth, and now I have dentures. There was crumbling, breaking, pain, and expense. I think a lot of it was from too much sugar or diet soda and not enough brushing/flossing. Accepting that I was going to lose my teeth was difficult.

Its been a couple of years now. But now that I have dentures there is very little stress - no breaking or pain. I was able to get implants on the bottom, which is better than regular dentures. Implants are expensive. Fortunately I had a dentist and surgeon who worked together well, and this was done over a couple of years. Cosmetically, my false teeth are straight, white, and beautiful. There are some foods I will not be able to eat again without cutting them up, but its not a big deal. I don't feel comfortable letting people know that I have dentures, since it seems to be used to make fun of people. But now that I am used to it, I'm happy with what I have, and glad to know I am not going to have to struggle with this any more. Its done.

I do think people should fight to keep their natural teeth, but financially its very difficult to do - especially in the US where insurance policies don't cover nearly enough.

This is good to read. I'm glad you're better. I know someone who has some implants (due to accident) and it took a long time to accomplish but they are very pleased with them.

I say well done @alice202 - and thanks tor updating us.
